Only recently moved over to Linux, is SuperTuxKart actually... good? Like, me and my wife have put tons of hours into modded Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the physics are really fun, the accessibility options are good enough that she can reasonably keep up with me, and the graphics are super appealing. Is Tux Kart worth my time to look into? Does it have a chance of appealing to my very casual wife?

It's good, but it's not Mario Kart. Taper your expectations accordingly. It also costs nothing to try out.

Its not trying to be a close clone, but that would be boring anyways. Its free and cross platform so i say just give it a try :D
It also has a sort of rocket league mode now apparently.

It’s good. Not anywhere near as good as Mario Kart 8, but still good on its own. It’s better than Garfield Kart.

You might also want to try Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart. It’s another open source free kart racer. Both are very fun.

Interesting, I've never heard of that one! Might be worth some research as well

It has a Garfield Kart 1 feel to it.

No, it's Diddy Kong Racing.
