I absolutely know who these belong to, but I don't own a purse and don't take Ibuprofen.

Instead I have coat pocket paracetamol and home paracetamol. Hope this counts.

Fuck, hope you're not pregnant!!!!111

No, it's OK, I also don't own a uterus, plus I'm not American or right wing anyway, so even if I were female and pregnant, I would happily follow medical advice and ignore RFK.

Thanks for your concern, though.

Dodged a bullet. By not being American.

[-] Nollij@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

How can he dodge a bullet if it wasn't launched in the first place?

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

America has many many bullets launched and I don't want any part of it.

I know how to spice up my life (and have a weak stomach) and that's why I have everywhere weed instead!

My wild guess:

spoilerSpice girls?

I remember them in real time

I have home ibuprofen because I got a prescription for it last time I had COVID with fever and only took a single pill or so, so the remainder of that pack sits at home in a drawer, possibly expired.

Currently on vacation, didn't take any medication with me.

If the need for pain medication is so high that you need to plan around it, I can only above to seek for changes in your lifestyle (though I do know that for some it's not possible). Pain is usually just the symptom of an underlying cause that needs addressing. And that is often possible even when you're old enough to have listened to Spice Girls.

This is a naive and privileged view.

CDC says 25% of adults have chronic pain: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/databriefs/db518.htm

Just change your life. Don't do hard physical labor. Don't get a desk job. Don't engage in risky behaviors. Don't get into a car accident. Don't get arthritis. Don't get cancer. Don't have operations. Just address it, right?

The flip side of your coin is most everybody that's in pain deserves it since they could theoretically prevent it and thus are choosing it.

This kind of thinking, that a person is responsible for their own health, able to control it, and has a responsibility to be healthy, is essentially a right wing talking point. There is a wellness to right wing pipeline and there's been quite a bit written about it, especially regarding the pandemic, that you might check out.

Health is fragile and temporary. Those that don't have it are not moral failures. You don't get to tell them they're not trying hard enough.

Thank you for saying this, based comment.

I don't know where you got from that anyone deserves pain. All I said is that if you experience pain, you should try to remedy the cause instead of just using generic painkillers. I too had back pain because of my desk job; I acted accordingly.

There's nothing shameful about having pain or treating it with painkillers, but I think there's something wrong with the sentiment that's also often found on Reddit that knees and back just hurt when you're over 35.

While the issue is often rooted in society (through labor or other lifestyle details that are pushed on the individual), it's you who has to live with that body until the end. Rightfully blaming society won't help.

For causes outside of your control, there's nothing to do.

Anyhow, for issues like rheumatic arthritis, there are more targeted drugs than genetic painkillers AFAIK that are taken on a schedule. I have both friends and family who are affected; osteoarthritis is indeed treated with e.g. paracetamol, but is usually accompanied by some sort of therapy.

Go pound sand.

If you had my pain for one day (that I've had for decades), you'd be a snotty sniveling mess in the corner crying for your mummy.

Advil? Tylenol? Don't even touch my pain. The entry level narcotics barely do. The meds that make a difference have significant side effects.

So check your hubris and STFU
