It's not even propaganda.

Fifty years ago, sociologist Alvin Toffler wrote a book called "Future Shock."

His premise was that massive changes were coming because the Industrial Era was dying and the Digital Age was coming.

People would act irrationally because they could not, or would not, be able to handle new world.

People aren't learning new propaganda lessons, they are pining for a past that never was.

It’s not even propaganda.

Have you seen the white house lately? Have you seen Fox News? There's other factors but if you're trying to claim the world doesn't have a propaganda problem you might have lost your mind. It's effective because people are pining for a part that never was

“It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Krishnamurti

And to paraphrase one of the members of the Frankfurt school: “the role of psychotherapy is to allow a healthy individual to function in an unhealthy society.“

Therapy costs money. Propaganda is not only free, it's shoved in your face and you have to pay to block it (partially).

Yup, completely accurate. It's not MAGA, it's not fascism, it's not climate change. It's all you. Be better and stop believing all the propaganda!

I feel like this XKCD comic could be reworked for this.

You have value for just existing. Everyone does. And those trying to grade human worth on some arbitrary value system can be safely ignored.

A whole lot of TikTok therapy jargon being thrown around essentially is propaganda. How to spot a narcissist. How to avoid toxic people. Is your partner manipulating you. Anything to stop you from looking in the damn mirror.

O NO! THEM!!! GRRRRRRRR

[-] HailSeitan@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Yeah! Let’s deny structural problems exist and pretend everything is the fault of the individual! Shit, this meme is neoliberal propaganda.

This meme doesn’t do any of what you just said. You have created a straw man, my friend.

[-] spidertrolled 3 points 4 days ago

"Them" refers to people, not structual issues. Structural issues dont go by "them."

This is a message against blaming people different than yourself.

Propaganda is easy, consciousness is hard.
