Yes, it's a real bird. I like the nickname "butter butt" though.

I'm personally partial to the nickname "yump"

And as all smol birbs, he’s PISSED

Look, Raymond, a yellow crester warbler

[-] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago

HELL YEAH. Love me some Blacklist. I made a ton of Blacklist reaction gifs at one point because I got sick of not being able to use any decent ones. Didn't expect them to do quite so well

[-] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

I've been meaning to check that out, but I was doing a B99 bit lol

[-] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

Well fuck. There's literally a bit in Blacklist at one point where he's looking at birds in a park and someone says Raymond, there's a yellow crested warbler lmfao

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

That almost seems like it must be a reference.

The relevant part is about 1:35 into the video if you're crazy enough to not want to watch more Brooklyn 99.

Indeed indeed indeed indeed

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

You're too excited, the warbler is a common bird

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

With the Merlin app, you can be certain it's a yellow-rumped warbler and play everyone the audio clip of it warbling!

[-] djdarren@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

That app is basically magic, as far as I'm concerned.

On a similar vibe, I'm 45, and one of the finest activities my partner and I enjoy is driving to a nearby beach, sitting in the car eating chips, and watching people walking their dogs.

If you'd told 25 year old me about this, he'd have laughed at you.

I guess it depends on what you did when you were younger. I had a paper route. 10 km on bicycle every day except sundays. And it was in the middle of nowhere, so lots of nature, and I got real good at doing pigeon calls (cupping hands and blowing between thumbs). It's just that there's not a lot of variety in Denmark, otherwise I might've gotten into it as a hobby.

Birdnet is a great piece of software

I recorded an owl the other day, though I mostly get robbins and finches

Hey your link doesn't work

Yay thank you!

I'm trying to figure out how this translates to the team advancing in the playoffs.

I'm reading the quote and I almost see it making sense in this perspective.

Blue jays are always cool.

Planned to go fishing. Spent half an hour taking videos of two pileated woodpeckers doing a mating dance instead.

True story. Couldn't help it for some reason. It was fascinating.
