Yeah, it's crazy that you can actually put the can IN the trash. Most games it would just sit awkwardly on top of a transparent hitbox. Never seen it myself, though... I'm something of a rebel. 
As non native English speaker when I first played I did not know what the cop was saying so that was my only option to throw the can in their face.
I am a native English speaker and it still never occurred to me to put it in the bin lol
The first time I ever played it I was in my "fuck you I won't do what you tell me" phase.
I still feel that way, but now it's not a phase.
