As an AMAB woman with an F on my ID I would be terrified of going to the US let alone someone with an X on their ID. Glade that the government is starting to realize.

This is some stupid bullshit. Extrajudicial Brownshirts disapearing people and a breakdown of law and order by fascists, and we're pretending like its not hapening.

Shit's fucked yo.

I am guessing it is to keep trump from flinging his poop at us more.

Canada talks elbows up, but the libs suck a good dick.

We are an ant compared to them. We dont want to antagonize them anymore than we have to. History says people like trump want to invade their neighbour. Let's not give him a reason. Let's try to wait out the storm without getting invaded and maybe canada will be a country in 10 years.

History says they don't need reasons or excuses. Exercising sovereignty is not antagonizing and not antagonizing won't protect anyone from anything.

As much as I agree that the news I've read from the USA is absolutely nuts... The USA is huge and I'm sure you could travel to some random place and see non of this sort of thing. It's the same sort of thing as when I traveled to Florida one time and didn't see any examples of "Florida man", just regular folks.

All this to say that I understand why Canada hasn't elevated its safety/security level. But I'm definitely not traveling there either way.

Probably, but you have to get past the border nazis first.

Yeah I have family down there, one who is Mexican and on a working visa so what I would consider to be high risk, and they've been travelling quite frequently to and from Mexico since last November. They live in Chicago and said they feel safe doing this.

So yes, I think the news we hear is a lot but for many people it's still business as usual. Like, you said, I sure as fuck wouldn't go down there, but the majority of people travelling through are still doing so safely.

I didn't need another reason to never enter the US, but I will add it to the pile.

[-] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 days ago

Soon that pile will be so big that we can use it as a barrier to seal us off from the US completely.

[-] Arkouda@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

At this point, I can only assume they are never going to be able to climb my pile. haha

Canada issues warning for citizens ~~with gender-neutral passports~~ travelling to U.S

[-] bowreality@lemmy.ca 16 points 3 days ago

They can just drop the “neutral“ part. “Travellers with gender” is all they need to say.

Yes, please don’t come here. I don’t wish this shit on anybody. I unsubscribed from my main news community today because this crap is super depressing, and it never, ever seems to stop. Not for one day. It’s really hard to stay in good spirits.
