I did some studies and noticed that in 100% of the cases of autism, the mothers had several doses of dihydrogen monoxide, daily, for the whole pregnancy!

And nobody is talking about that! 100%! There isn't someone with autism where their mother didn't get dihydrogen monoxide during pregnancy! I solved the problem, we should immediately ban dihydrogen monoxide

This seems like a non issue, there's like 4 other fever reducer/anti inflammatory drugs available.

Just because the fascists bandwagoned an idea doesn't mean the left needs to take them seriously.

Don't make pro-Tylenol part of identity politics. Just read their opinion and disreguard it if you know better.

There are more important things going on.

Not all of those other options are safe in pregnancy

What drugs? Pregnant women can’t take NSAIDs, especially in the second and third trimesters. they are definitively linked to pregnancy complications and are only rarely used if the benefits outweigh the risks

If there is a risk with Tylenol (there probably isn’t but there’s some conflicting evidence though some of the supporting evidence has some baggage - the Harvard study in particular having a pretty notable financial conflict of interest) the risk is likely greatly outweighed by not taking Tylenol, as maternal pain and uncontrolled fever are definitely linked to birth defects

It’s an issue because if it is true then the evidence needs to be much more significant. If it is not true then they are scaring the layperson into a standard of care that is going to result in significantly worse outcomes because they followed the advice of the government. You may be like “oh that’s stupid, I’m gonna take Tylenol” but I guarantee you there’s a bunch of pregnant women right now that are in pain, that have a fever of 100F, etc who are risking neurological and other birth defects

Its already known what causes autism and it's things the right doesn't want you to know: pollution and age of the parents. Want to really work on preventing autism? Implement strong environmental regulations and an economy where people are relatively debt free and can easily buy a house at a young age to start a family.

But no, it's Tylenol and vaccines.

doesn't mean the left needs to take them seriously

I don't take them seriously. My concern is those on the far-right who will take them seriously and bring harm to their unborn child. A lot of my concern about the far-right's antiscience isn't because I believe it will hurt me. It is because I believe it will hurt them.

If parents want to have a child, I wish them to have a healthy and wonderful child who will go on to have an amazing life, likely better than the one I had. I want their child to live a life I could never have had. But ignoring sound science about how to go about having a child that is healthy, is needlessly putting that child's life at risk.

I'm not really concerned about me. Oddly, I am more concerned about them. I value their freedom and ultimately they have the final say, but there's just no need to put others at risk or in harm because of those freedoms.

I just want it to be extremely clear here. Their antiscience doesn't really phase me and it's effect are not where my concern is born. It's what that antiscience will do to their children that concerns me. It's a free nation, they are allowed to go down that road, but I can still be concerned.

Sure, just let then win then.

Like 1% increase in chances of autism during pregnancy. Taking some Tylenol once or twice won't give your kid autism.

Please stop treating this like it has any merit. Its literally a correlation. There is no cause effect relationship here. Mothers who are prescribed Tylenol during pregnancy are more likely to seek an autism diagnosis for their kid.
