Some of the worst offenders of oppressing minorities were closeted minorities themselves. A lot of notoriously homophobic leaders turned out to be gay. It's like they're trying to overcompensate to be accepted in the group they want to fit in. Human psychology of fitting in your surrounding social group is a weird thing.

JD Vance is 100% one of those people who knows he's evil, and thinks morals and ethics are for idiots.

Yeah he's definitely not drinking the cool aid. Hes the one throwing cyanide in it while claiming its just sugar.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago

They know others are bound by morals, so they use it against them.

Is this the woman that burned the koran?

IIRC her name suggests that .... her recent ancestors were also migrants?

Valentina Gomez, also known as Valentina Gomez Noriega, was born on 8 May 1999, in Medellín, Colombia. Her early years were shaped by a strong sense of discipline and commitment, values that would guide her in academics, sports, and leadership. In 2009, she immigrated to the United States with her family, a move that would open doors to higher education and career opportunities.

Gomez’s Colombian heritage plays a significant role in her identity. Proud of her background, she often speaks about her home country and her desire to give back, primarily through community and nonprofit initiatives.

No idea what the fuck this website is but that seems exactly right somehow.

I'm surprised this happened before Trump even took office.

[-] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 1 week ago

The Trump energy was already on the Republican base before Trump. He just learned to gather it.

Back when the Tea Party was doing its thing, my parents were all "oh this Tea Party is so much worse than traditional conservatives" and now with trump they're all "trump is so much worse than traditional conservatives". No, these turds have been stinking up the joint for fucking ever. They just have more power now (a lot more) than they had in the past.

I feel the desire to point out, she was born in Columbia, too

They can try it if they like.

You sure that's a migrant under there and this isn't just another conservative who wants to kill Charlie Kirk?

[-] skeptomatic@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago

Seen the video. She can barely speak English.. Deport her.

[-] Marleyinoc@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Fuck, Vance is such a fucking goober.

[-] Kwyjibo1@lemmy.myserv.one 9 points 1 week ago

Valentina Gomez, I am surprised maga hasn't turned on her and deported her to the Congo or something.

[-] Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Cool that we only ever get to see this stuff on lemmy. Fight the good fight though everyone. I think you're all staying individually informed and that will help somehow.

[-] wulrus@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I thought: Certainly referring to terrorists, not immigrants in general?

It seems that the original post has been deleted for violating the TOS of X (quite an achievement!). Screenshots of it show "This is cheaper than deportation", which I can't verify, since it's not on archive.org. If true, this post would be correct.

She reposted later with the text: "This is cheaper than deportation. Public executions for rapists and murderers." and a slightly different picture from the same set.

Which is not true; death penalty is really expensive. Could only make it cheaper than deportation without due process, possibly implying that intentionally.

[-] causepix@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

They've been calling everyone they deport "rapists and murderers" for quite some time now. They've never made a distinction, there's no reason to think they'd start now.

They were wise to pick JD Vance as VP. He has that personality that just sucks most of the immediate hate away from old donny.
