Maybe an alternative way:

Pic A - Normal image

Pic B - Same place illuminated with ultraviolet light

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

yeah that would make more sense

[-] NeilBru@lemmy.world 32 points 3 weeks ago

Barbarians.

ls -la, for civilized people.

-Ahl here! Human-readable sizes and get rid of . and ..!

edit: format code so ..! doesn't look funny :D

[-] thethunderwolf@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago

I like ls -Ap, the -p option is convenient, it puts a / at the end of names if they're directories. -A is like -a but doesn't show . and ..

-l is sometimes useful, but a bit cluttered and less readable (at least to me, maybe it wouldn't be if I were used to using it)

Do you mean putting the l before the a, or just the l and a flags in general?

[-] blx@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

That's what we call lla here at ~

[-] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 6 points 3 weeks ago

PS1=$(ls -a)

Depends on the distro how that alias is defined (if it is defined)...

[-] one_knight_scripting@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

That is true, but I would define standard practice like this: ls -l = ll And ls -la = la

[-] Ephera@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, fair enough.

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

but if your hand is already on the keyboard, it's faster to type la than ll since you can move two hands faster than one (if they're doing the same movement, since with one hand you'd need to do the movement, reset and do it again)

[-] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago

But I have 10 of those to type with?

[-] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 11 points 3 weeks ago

[-] thaklor@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Human-readable? What, are you some kind of human?

[-] debil@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Lulz, I tried that just to see the results. Either the terminal knows to not go crazy, or this fresh install is small enough to not take more than 5 seconds.

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 4 points 3 weeks ago

And whatmade tool might tell you how all this garbage appeared here if you forgot.
