You do eventually find a way to pogo straight down as an alternative moveset as well, and I've found that makes those pogo balls wayyyy easier.
Spoilers about ~7 hours in
Very early into the game, it felt a bit like HK extended. But as the game progresses, it starts feeling more and more like its own thing.
Even Hornet's abilities that are similar to the Knight's still feel quite distinct, like her second pogo being more athletic, or her dash being an actual sprint instead of a supernatural force.
And after I got her kunai (?) attack, it made me think, it's similar in a sense to a platformer originally from the 3DS, where the protagonist still plays like herself from the previous game, but having to work with whatever she finds, and pretty well still.
