Carlos Sainz's racing IQ is insane.

[-] Brekky@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

I loved how he had to even spell it out for his team that he was doing it on purpose when they told him norris was .8s away.

[-] kerrypacker@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Yeah that was really something.
Great fuckin' race.

[-] June@lemm.ee 37 points 2 years ago

Hamilton got what he wanted.

Message that Russell needs to push, Russell pushes straight into a wall, Hamilton takes 3rd.

"It doesn't just rain, it Singapores."

Can't stay mad at that

Something new this season: Red Bulls being overtaken on track.

Russell is not ready yet. Hamilton would have won if he was ahead

Sucks for Ocon. He was on a roll today.

[-] SlicingBot@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 years ago

It's also his birthday. What a terrible gift.

[-] DarylDutch@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Bravo Sainz. Killer race.

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 11 points 2 years ago

wow! What a race, what a drive from Carlos Sainz.

[-] gitpsuh@programming.dev 10 points 2 years ago

Liam Lawson in net points scoring positions when Max /Checo pit :)

He might get Alonso as well after the penalty

That would take him to 9th

[-] DarylDutch@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Great race. Was a lot of fun joining everyone here online. Till the next.

Sainz tactical genius man

[-] TastyWheat@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Smooth operator!

[-] Bademantel@feddit.de 9 points 2 years ago

Wow, just saw the Perez move on Albon in the post-race discussion. Just dive-bombed him. Very clumsy. Hope he gets a penalty for that one.

I've never been so happy to hear the Spanish national anthem in my life.

[-] Sentau@lemmy.one 8 points 2 years ago

Lawson will score today if nothing shit happens to him

[-] raktheundead@fedia.io 8 points 2 years ago

There goes the "will they, won't they?" of Red Bull taking all of the wins this year. Good work from Sainz, Norris and Hamilton; that was a bit embarrassing from Russell.

[-] TastyWheat@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Today, we all earned the Spanish National Anthem.

[-] UESPA_Sputnik@feddit.de 7 points 2 years ago

Terrible camera work once again. We didn't see what really happened to Yuki, we didn't see HAM and RUS switching places, we didn't see VER overtaking HUL. The director is just frantically switching back and forth between cars.

Disastrous pitstop for Alonso. Did the rear jackman prematurely drop the car?

[-] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago

They said during the broadcast that the car slipped off the new jack design and so one side was still on the ground. Likely had to wait for the left side to change tires before dropping and relifting the car so the right side could be taken off and replaced.

Dang, Ocon was doing so well.

Funny how the circumstances change just as drivers get comfortable with their positions.

[-] Xenxs@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago

Hands down best race of the season. And all it took was for RedBull to not be around.

Perez-Ocon-Alonso battle on a street circuit with close walls (๐Ÿ‘ อœส–๐Ÿ‘)

[-] alphacyberranger@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago

Are they racing on rails? Overtakes where?

[-] t_jpeg@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Sainz actually has this race in his pocket at the moment. Unbelievably comfortable right now.
