I watched Joshua Bardwell's series on how to build an FPV drone and it was really educational. I would love to see similar tutorials on how to build other RC vehicles like sail boats, cars, and planes. Does anybody have links like that?
Just wait until you get into gliders! I have a 2000m powered glider and I have a hard time moving it around the house without bumping it into things haha
Damn you must have an enormous house to fit a 2km glider inside.
D’oh unit fail haha!
What launch system do you use? Bungie, or just hand launch while under power?
I always wanted to get into those discus launch gliders, but the nearest hobby airfield with consistent thermals or updrafts from elevation changes are quite a ways away. I've got a small foam glider, but it's only half a meter wide.
Hand launch but I would love a bungee, throwing it is stressful for me because I’m always worried I won’t get my hands back to the controls in time 😅
Not OP but he's got a powered glider so it's got a folding propeller to get you up in the air, then you can shut down the motor and just soar.
I just watched a review on YouTube of a new powered glider (blanking on the model name) that was 2000mm and it looked amazing 😎
Are drones and boats welcome?
Heck yeah they are - I should probably change the name of the community to be all-inclusive. I've been eyeing up an RC sailboat that's on FB marketplace near me, but not in the budget quite yet.
I'm not a RC pilot or anything, but that's a big RC plane. I'm pretty sure they're using those in the war in Ukraine lol.
😅 I told my wife the size when I ordered it, but she didn't really take the time to conceptualize it - the look on her face when she came home after I'd assembled it was pretty funny.
Reminds me of previous my cadet senior, massive thing
You ever hear of Sullivan Products? Used to work for them selling RC parts.
No, haven't come across them yet, but I'm still new to the hobby.
Hello, I mostly fly fpv quads but I have a millennium flerken kit I've been meaning to build.
FPV flying is seriously cool. I've only tried it once with a cheap little starter kit, but I definitely get the appeal, it takes some skills for sure.
Put an FPV kit on your plane. The tail would be a cool POV!
I’ve done that before, it’s awesome! I put an fpv camera on the top of the tail and ran the cables all the way back to the transmitter. It’s wide enough that you can see the edges of the wings.
I definitely want to at some point, or even just get an Insta 360 and stick it on for a flight or two.
