If this makes it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists, I’m all for it. It might even make driving downtown easier if the cars behind you aren’t expecting you to turn right on a red light. Turning on a green light means you really only have to focus mostly on the crosswalk.

Yeah, honestly I am not really opposed to this idea. In a busy environment like downtown having less things to focus on while you're driving makes it so much safer for everyone.

When I lived in Spain you weren't allowed to turn right on red and most turns were controlled with a light within cities. Made driving so much easier and less stressful since I usually only had to focus on looking in one direction when I was turning.

It’s like that in Montreal too. You aren’t allowed to turn right on red on the entire island. Driving sucks there without having to focus on the entire intersection at once, so it’s kind of nice to just have to wait your turn.

An absolutely Carbrained solution. We need more public mass transit and separate multi-use pathways. There is not enough room in any city for every person to own, drive, and park their own car.

I really hate people like you and most of the community in fuckcars.

Is the best solution to remove cars? Yes, yes it is.

But you are forgetting that bloody everyone has cars in the city that won't magically disappear. You need to transition in a way so that you won't need to suddenly remove millions of vehicles from the city and overwhelm junk yards/recycling.

Removing right turn on red will vastly increase safety RIGHT FUCKING NOW. And because it's easy to implement, we should absolutely fucking do this right now.

Making driving less convenient (in the eyes of drivers) has the added benefit of reducing traffic as drivers avoid the area. I love when a speed camera or construction happens in my area because traffic gets cut in half.
