Even juggalos are anti-AI.

[-] 11111one11111@lemmy.world 75 points 1 month ago

I mean its kinda their brand: Fuck posers

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Yeah, but using AI is kind of a poser move

[-] jaybone@lemmy.zip 28 points 1 month ago

Right. So that’s why their fans would not like it.

[-] errer@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

South Park just used AI to skewer Trump so it has its uses. We have to give upstanding citizens like Insane Clown Posse the benefit of the doubt.

[-] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

People keep calling that AI but is it really? That naked Trump looked like a real person with a digital face replacement. That tech has been around since Forrest Gump. I mean is this scene now retroactively considered AI? I'd hate for future generations to believe that someone just sat down at a PC in 1997, farted, and typed "replace fat dude with giant worm creature and make it look cheap and shitty" and the computer just shat it out.

When they can make a scene that looks half as a good as that by just putting in a prompt, then you could call what South Park did AI.

Of course Trey is doing a dick finger puppet

[-] JabbaTheThott@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I said the exact same thing lmfao. When I saw the episode I said "What poor soul had to use their finger for that". Of course.... Trey probably wanted to

[-] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah, he definitely wanted to lol

[-] errer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I had no idea given the title of the clip South Park Studios posted. Guess that’s part of the joke?

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

One of the only good uses of genAI, especially as Trump himself is deep in the pockets of AI corpos.

[-] emeralddawn45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

I agree with you wholeheartedly, except in this instance:

[-] ruplicant@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

the only good IA gen clip I've seen. but I'm biased since I've loved everything from Igorrr

[-] P1nkman@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

The fuck did Weird Al do to juggalos?

[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 42 points 1 month ago

AI, how does it work?

[-] Asswardbackaddict@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago

If there's no afterlife when you die, were you ever alive at all?

Um..... Yes?

Mam, I'm glad I never got into ICP. This is fuckin embarrassing.

[-] LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Encouraging suicidal ideation

[-] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

Do you not remember the memes from their "Miracles" video, like "Fucking magnets, how do they work?" The song included an anecdote about how Shaggy 2 Dope almost got his phone stolen by a pelican and lyrics like "I don't wanna talk to a scientist. Y'all motherfuckers lyin', and getting me pissed."

[-] Asswardbackaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Um. No. And, I'm sorry, but I'm also failing to connect relevance. Just didn't click in my brain hole, nothing against you out your rhetoric. Oh! Are you just saying, "Yeah, they're dumb"?

[-] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 27 points 1 month ago

if they couldn't figure out fucking magnets why.. wait of course they're gonna slop out some slop why was i surprised ahh who cares

[-] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 23 points 1 month ago

Weird, ICP has always been slop of one form or another, seems odd to get mad about it now ..

[-] kepix@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

check the tweet guys. out of the 100 comments there are like 3 complaining. probably the 3 users who use twitter on a pc and can actually see the details.

ill be honest, most people are going to be ok with slop content in the future. you know, your basic coworkers and neighbours, the people who watch the recommended netflix movies, and generated spotify playlists. deezer said nowdays at least 15% of new uploads are ai generated. people only want some noise in the background. just to numb the stress, pain, thoughts...

hell, even one of old friends told me that i have too high standard for movies, for not watching crap. cause "not every movie is suppose to be great".

[-] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

Well, sure, not every movie is supposed to be great, but the charm of some movies is just how bad they are. Or the director is trying to do something weird. Or whatever.

But something that's AI-generated just isn't interesting in the same way. There's a big difference between "this is crap because the budget was so low" and "this is crap because a computer generated it".

[-] kepix@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

weird can be fun. bad only reminds me im wasting my not so much freetime.

[-] deathbird@mander.xyz 14 points 1 month ago

Indeed, what is the opposite of "Whoop whoop?"

[-] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 20 points 1 month ago

Poohw poohw... :(

[-] lmuel@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 month ago

The article sounds like they’re really well known… never heard of them though lol

Are they popular outside of the US?

Genuine question

[-] x00z@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

"fucking magnets, how do they work?"

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/miracles-fucking-magnets-how-do-they-work

The whole world knows them.

[-] rozodru@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

outside the US? not likely. I would even argue they're not even that popular or known in all of the US. but in the midwest and for some reason Southern Arizona? 100%.

I went to high school in Southern Arizona when my family lived in the US and yeah, pretty much everyone at my high school loved them. I liked one of their albums but I wasn't like a face painting merch buying fan. They didn't radio play or anything, it was all word of mouth and early internet stuff.

in college I worked at a local Best Buy and EVERY TIME a new ICP album would come out (which was frequently) we always had to put a couple extra people in the media department cruising the CD aisles and one posted outside the washroom because the Juggalos would constantly come in to steal the album. You could see them coming from a mile away cause they quite literally were advertising the band with all the merch they had on. But they would NEVER pay for the album, it was so odd. like buying a $50 ICP Hockey Jersey? sure. Paying $15 for the new album? no way fam, they're stealing that shit.

[-] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

They did extensive marketing there early in their career due to a dart throw on a mad to see if they could recreate their success in metro Detroit elsewhere.

[-] rozodru@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

really? that's interesting because yeah when I lived in Tucson they were huge.

[-] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

They did it around there and Colorado iirc. It’s been decades since I read Violent J’s autobiography. Interesting read, they worked their asses off with promotion.

[-] nomy@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

People make fun of them but they built their own little empire busting their asses consistently and a little luck. It's admirable, they never sold out and had creative control the whole time.

[-] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Fuckin magnets, how do they work?

[-] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

I loved them....in high school. I still like some of their songs, but it's not for everyone. Besides their music and the gathering festival they got into wrestling, made some movies (old western, and more modern gangsta ones). I never followed them out of rapping and the dark carnival, but they looked like they were having fun. They made faygo so popular they started selling it at Hot Topic.

Also every now and again I watch that youtube video of people making fun of Miracles (the fucking magnets song)
