Title.

Basically, I've had an account on lemmy.ml for a while and now I've moved to lemmy.sdf.org and I can't seem to see my previous posts from my lemmy.ml account.

For any such questions, just go go the /instances page of whatever instance you want to check federation for.

The lemmy.sdf.org/instances page shows lemmy.ml under "Linked instances", so whatever you're experiencing seems to either be a bug or no one has subscribed/searched for these posts/communities, so it hasn't been loaded yet. But since I assume you did that, it's probably some bug.

The link to the /instances page for whatever instance you are browsing from can be found at the bottom of the page, second in the list of links; 'Modlog' 'Instances' 'Docs' .....

You won't see them if lemmy.sdf.org started federating with lemmy.ml after you made those comments.

If you'd like to specifically import your comments, click the permalink icon on each comment you want from lemmy.ml's instance, then copy and paste said link into lemmy.sdf.org's search bar to import that comment.

For further reading, check out Lemmy's official documentation on importing comments.

I am subscribed to multiple communities from Lemmy.ml without issue.

I was just reading something on there, so we do federate.

I have a couple of lemmy.ml communities that I am trying to subscribe to from another instance and it never moves away from subscribe pending. So I wonder if that is similar to what you are seeing? Or are you newer posts showing up, just not the older ones like @derin@lemmy.beru.co mentioned?

I suspect (without proof, just a hunch) that it's load and timeouts. I've had to subscribe, wait a few seconds, reload, unsub, reload, subscribe, lather-rinse-repeat a few times to get subscriptions to lemmy.ml work from lemmy.sdf.org.

That worked for me too. I was beginning to wonder why they were pending more than a day.

I see the same from this SDF instance to 2 communities on lemmy.world (news@ and world@) - they're just stuck in Subscription Pending state over here. Yet, I did subscribe to another one before these two (by a few days) and it worked fine. Scratching my head...

This is the same thing that happened to me — no amount of clicking on anything will change the pending status. I can read things on Lemmy.ml just fine.

Hopefully they’ll squash the worst of the bugs soon.

I went over to lemm.ee and created an account to test from another location, getting the same behaviour over there as here. So we can probably say it's not something specific on the SDF setup, just lemmy (software) growing pains.

lemmy.ml just upgraded to Lemmy 0.18-rc. Other instances have reported much better federation so hopefully things improve soon with the new release.
