Poor Ghislaine Maxwell in prison for sex trafficking to nobody.

[-] Microw@piefed.zip 17 points 2 weeks ago

Umm.. she was convicted of sex trafficking of a minor to Epstein.

All public statements by victims made during trials identify Epstein as their abuser. Some identify Maxwell as an abuser, some identify others (like Trump or Andrew) as abusers.

But the evidence against Epstein abusing underage and of-age girls was clear, and the evidence against Maxwell trafficking for that purpose was as well. That is why Maxwell is in prison.

People thinking that those two would not have abused girls if not for rich clients, are stupid.

Evidence that these victims were abused by other people or "clients who paid" is what the feds repeatedly deny to exist. Even though MAGA claimed these lists exist. I don't know if they exist or not, but they are not the reason why Maxwell is in prison or why Epstein died.

Trump is a pedo...

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 58 points 2 weeks ago

I'm struggling to reconcile this with the previous reason given for not releasing the files, that they were a national security risk. So, releasing no evidence would have been a risk to national security after Epstein was dead?

[-] MisterD@lemmy.ca 19 points 2 weeks ago

Trump probably collected millions in extortion money from everybody on that list

[-] dustyData@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

The government lies.

It doesn't matter when or where you read this, it's always true.

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Yes and no. It depends on the part of the government in question.

Take the Government Accountability Office. I pretty much trust anything they put out. The same goes for NASA, and until this year, NOAA.

OSHA also tends to get a pass.

Homeland Security or the FBI? My sodium intake becomes dangerously high.

And that's even before Trump returned to power.

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

Were they a risk because they were dirt on politicians? We could have resolved that by getting rid of those politicians.

[-] Dr_Box@lemmy.world 39 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Its crazy how Pam Bondi the Attorney General says there was no epstein files client list when a few months ago she said on live tv that she was currently reviewing the epstein files client list

[-] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

It's sketchy but also feasibly explained by incompetence. "Oh yeah I just started on that homework assignment last night" tier of bullshit.

[-] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 2 weeks ago

Well thats why alex acosta is so highly regarded in conservative circles. Getting epstein to take a deal with zero evidence against him is mind flayer level lawyering.

[-] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

As soon as Epstein died, it was clear that the public statements about the circumstances surrounding his death was absolutely sketchy. One of the most high-profile people to be held in prison, and they completely botched it? It was absolutely a coverup. Would not be surprised if the info he would give up would put any presidential hopefuls at the time at risk of winning the election either.

[-] aceshigh@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It would have caused international scandals too. I think they had to cover it up… anything to save face of the leadership/the .01%

[-] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

I fear this is becoming a joke, because it is hard to cope with the concept that the leaders of this country (from both parties) as well as very powerful and influential people are literal pedofiles who raped children.

there's a "yes minister" sketch about how to be a politician you can't have a clean criminal record, you must have done corruption case to show you have experience in the system. nowadays that sketch should be about how normalised pedophilia is in the government.

[-] elvith@feddit.org 13 points 2 weeks ago

Then there's still two possibilities:

  1. He was murdered to cover up $thing (innocent or not)
  2. All/most of it was true and he wanted an "easy escape"

Because of 1. I'm not sure if this would stop any arguments, though.

[-] Microw@piefed.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago

There has been evidence against him since the early 2000s that he abused girls and young women. He wiggled his way out of a case in 2008, but he knew it was over this time. It is absolutely thinkable that he killed himself in order to not have to actually go to prison.

[-] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

In 2008 he was protected by his influential clients. Second time around he was enough of a liability they instead got the evidence suppressed and made sure he couldn't make good on his blackmail threat.

[-] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

He killed himself. But his top clients still hold top positions in government.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

There are too many inconsistencies and coincidental 'mistakes' in the suicide story.
As if the guy who had dirt on a huge part of the rich and powerful of the world, dirt that could absolutely destroy them couldn't get murdered.
Witnesses have been murdered for a lot less.
But no, it's all a conspiracy theory.

[-] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

It makes a lot more sense to me and requires a lot less moving parts.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

There are too many inconsistencies and coincidental ‘mistakes’ in the suicide story.

This is not evidence. It's suspicion. If Epstein was murdered, find some reason to believe that. Otherwise it's just nonsense conspiracy, no different than Q.

And what inconsistencies are you referring to exactly? The fact that a dude who's life was over decided to kill himself? Or maybe it's the complete lack of regard, empathy, and competence of jail staff that you just can't believe exists in America?

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

LOL you want to hear about the inconsistencies while you say it's "nonsense conspiracy"? fuck that.
Looks like you don't know anything or the details about it yet feel the need to voice an opinion.
Sure it's all coincidence and mistakes, and he is the first of all prisoners to have killed himself in the 8 yaers that facility existed.
Wanna buy an island? It's the one where nothing happened.

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

What makes more sense? A vast conspiracy to murder a single man in a jail cell, or that single man lying to a psychologist to get pulled from suicide watch, then meeting his lawyer to change his will to fuck over his victims, then killing himself with his recently returned blankets while the guards slept the night away.

Guards who had been sleeping through their shifts for at least a month, likely longer.

Keep in mind that Epstein was in prison for his own sex crimes. Epstein himself, raped children.

I feel that tends to get lost in the whole "child pimp to the powerful".

Epstein had already been attacked by other inmates because Epstein was a pedo in a jail house.

Now, did people benefit from Epstein's death? You bet your ass. I just don't think that anyone is competent enough to pull off a murder for pay without fucking it up. Basically I'm anti-holiwood on this one. Because movies and TV are the only places that shit works.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

" lying to a psychologist to get pulled from suicide watch"
He was still on 'heightened watch'.
And OC the guards made many mistakes, and a little unlucky moving other inmates around and plenty more to make it all possible by mistake.
The only suicide in the 8 years this facility exists.
But sure, witnesses or whistleblowers never get killed.
It's all a 'vast conspiracy', right.

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Here's the story of an actual assassination.

In 2017, a journalist named Daphne Caruana Galizia was working on the Panama Papers, and the connection to Maltese businessmen. This angered Yorgen Fenech, a rich asshole who was all over the Panama Papers, so he hired a man named Melvin Theuma to hire Brothers Alfred Degiorgio and George Degiorgio along with their friend Vince Muscat to plant the bomb. They got the bomb from Robert Agius and Jamie Vella.

Notice how I'm actually naming names, because that's how this shit works in reality.

Epstein's guards didn't just "make some mistakes" they were fucking sleeping or playing cell phone games all night and then lying about doing their rounds. This had been going on for at least a month, likely longer. They were certainly not checking in on Epstein every 15 minutes as required by protocol, because again, they were sleeping and lying about it.

And Yes, Epstein had his blankets back, the very blankets he used to kill himself. Because he was a pedo in prison, facing a life of prison rape and constant beatings for being a pedo in prison.

I have no doubt that a bunch of very powerful people were shitting themselves over it all, until Epstein did them the favor of killing himself, for purely selfish reasons that just so happened to help those rich assholes.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

"Notice how I’m actually naming names"
LOL wh TF cares about something totally off-topic

"Epstein’s guards didn’t just “make some mistakes” they were fucking sleeping or playing cell phone games all night and then lying about doing their rounds. This had been going on for at least a month, likely longer. They were certainly not checking in on Epstein every 15 minutes as required by protocol, because again, they were sleeping and lying about it."
OC you believe that too.
Anyway, how bout that land I'm going to sell you? You interested smart guy?

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

The burden of proof is on you, why wouldn't a narcissistic pedo kill himself rather than spend the rest of his life in prison being constantly raped and beaten? What exactly did he have to live for? Answer that first, and then we can start talking.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

not intrested. I'm not a kindergarten teacher

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Which has nothing to do with anything. You believe a conspiracy of pedos broke into a prison to kill a man who was already suicidal, and yet offer nothing in proof beyond motive.

Motive is not means, and it's certainly not action.

Do you know who had motive, means, and could take action? Epstein himself.

Sure, a bunch of rich pedos benefited from that suicide, but that doesn't mean they were involved.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago
[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Still not proof of anything, except the incompetence of the Trump admin. But we knew they were incompetent from the beginning.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

You can't modify and doctor images multiple times by 'incompetence'.
They really should give you better notes.
But nice diversion, since they have been in the hands of the Biden administration for most of the time.
Funny how they didn't notice anything about them at that time or could now show the real images to own the big bad orange man.
But OC there are at least as much Blue MAGA pedo politicians on the list as red ones.

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Okay, let me explain this to you. One of the key parts of the conspiracy theory was the fact that the camera outside Epstein's cell was not functional.

There were other cameras, including one at the entrance to that hallway, but the conspiracy nuts ignore that shit. So Trump, in his dumbass way, knew that the only way to quell the conspiracy and get people to shut up about his ties to Epstein, was to release the unreleasable. The video that didn't actually exist. So he had someone make said video, but being a dumbass he gave the task to someone just as incompetent.

Now, we all know that it doesn't fucking matter how Epstein died. (but it was a suicide, because that's what the evidence says) Still doesn't change the fact that Trump was likely a client. There were other clients as well, and all of them deserve prison. It would have been nice to have Epstein testify, but that's not actually needed.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

LOL quite the wild theory you conspiracy nuts came up with there now I'll block you since "go away" doesn't register and don't need to hear your nonsense

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Notably Donald Trump, who shit his diaper when asked about it.

[-] fodor@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Or maybe he didn't kill himself. That video, that doesn't even show his cell door, is pointless. It's the wrong area of the prison! And it's missing a minute of time. You can be sure the guards and prisoners knew of that 11:59-midnight safety window.

We don't need a big conspiracy theory here. All it takes is one rich person brining one or two guards. A small conspiracy, that gives you murder.

[-] Heliograph@mastodon.au 6 points 2 weeks ago

@cm0002 hah!

(#alttext: socmed post @TheOldManIsHere
I can't believe Epstein killed himself right before he was about to be acquitted due to a complete lack of evidence.)

[-] CannedYeet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Trump is blackmailing at least one other person on the client list. It's the only way I can make sense of the fact they said they were going to release it and then didn't.

[-] IhaveCrabs111@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

So not because trump is implicit in his closest friend for decades actions?
