Yup, just got this myself too. Fucking abysmal how painfully bad it is.

Almost as gross as the fact that an absurd percentage of the recipients are going to believe this crap.

My immediate thought was to the 1984 bit about choco rations being "increased".

Double plus good that is!

Facepalm

Here's $1,000 in less taxes!!!!!!!!!!!

takes $10,000 away from Medicare/Medicaid

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

It's worse than that. Because everyone is explaining this to their parents just like you just explained it but for the first few years they won't pay tax and their Medicare will be mostly the same. Then after the midterms the cuts start to kick in. After we have replaced a lot of the Republicans with Democrats. Then the old people blame the Democrats who just got into office. This is the same trap they keep pulling every time they are in power.

Yeah, it's the same effects we saw with the TCJA 2017, where they tie it knowing Democrats will take the blame once the hammer drops. It's so predictable, but I've given up trying to convince my friends and family. I excised the MAGA's from my life, though, that was a necessity for my own mental health.

"hey, congrats! You no longer have to pay taxes on the benefits you no longer get. Isn't that swell?!?"

[-] AA5B@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

That’s ok, the benefit will end in four years, when democrats will probably in control. They’ll get the blame for “increased” taxes and for social security falling apart sooner than it would have

My mom showed me this and I told her it was probably spam and a scam so just delete it. Neither of us thought it was real from just how stupid it sounded.

I guess now I know it is real. Still spam and a scam, but real.

I saw this shit too when I woke up, and I haven't seen hardly anyone talking about it. They use every part of the government for their lame, pathetic attempt at propaganda. Not to mention the bullshit, follow us on these social media sites, at the bottom.

This government can suck my dick

[-] Zier@fedia.io 17 points 1 month ago

I wouldn't let any of those diseased whores anywhere near my dick.

[-] SoleInvictus 5 points 1 month ago

Rugged conservatism expects you to suck your own dick. No more government ~~handjobs~~ handouts! Unless you're rich, then they'll do whatever you want and the common people will pay for it.

Nothing will change for 64% of the SSN recipients over 65 or older.

Those getting tax breaks is only for 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028.

By 2032, recipients benefits will be reduced by 24%.

Welcome to the new hell called America. Didn't touch the SSDI or people losing SNAP benefits.

Worse than that. Earlier tonight my partner saw an ad from the SSA about this on a streaming network. They had that shit ready to go. Genai makes it fast but not that fast

Full text for anyone interested:

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans.

The bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, providing meaningful and immediate relief to seniors who have spent a lifetime contributing to our nation's economy.

“This is a historic step forward for America’s seniors,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano. “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By significantly reducing the tax burden on benefits, this legislation reaffirms President Trump’s promise to protect Social Security and helps ensure that seniors can better enjoy the retirement they’ve earned."

The new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on Social Security benefits for most beneficiaries, providing relief to individuals and couples. Additionally, it provides an enhanced deduction for taxpayers aged 65 and older, ensuring that retirees can keep more of what they have earned.

Social Security remains committed to providing timely, accurate information to the public and will continue working closely with federal partners to ensure beneficiaries understand how this legislation may affect them.
