I'll continue to deal with the tomatoes and mothers cat. I'd try and figure out something to meal prep for next week but my brain is blank

Good luck with the tomatoes and mum's cat! Also meal prep. Any ideas at all eg chicken, lentils, pasta etc?

No idea. I made a lasagna last week and we're eating it this week. Pasta is 'easy' to make in the sense I know how to do it. I really should look into pressure canning and not just water bath canning

Hope you get some inspiration soon!

I've got a project at work I have to make some headway on this week, so I'm gonna get my teeth into that.

I've also got a load of academic articles I want to get through as I'm doing a factsheet for myself.

Then obviously the normal 9 million chores I have to do!

I'll be getting my freelancing back on track and apply for some translation work and register on some job portals. Might check out some Portuguese books from the library to become more comfy with my third language again and maybe score some local interpreting work (although having to interpret scares the shit out of me, so also I'll need to get busy gathering all the courage I possibly can).

THIRD language? Holy shit you're amazing! I barely speak 1.

I'm German, dad's a rock music fan and a language teacher (EN) and I moved abroad in my early 20s (PT) - that's two extra languages learned without much effort. I just didn't forget them again because I'm using them all the time. I think most people who roam the internet have their native language plus English. I feel for all the English speaking folks, it is much more difficult for them to pick up foreign languages because everybody speaks English to them and even where English is not the default there will be an English option a lot of the times.

Didn't see this topic until today but I was determined to finish a project I've been putting off for a while. I had grown somewhat disillusioned with choices I had made and things were't lining up how I imagined so I ended up procrastinating hard and avoiding it.

I pushed through and finally finished it despite my misgivings and I'm fairly happy with it. Made some mistakes in the original design (particularly the gussets) and a few other things but I can learn from those mistakes for next time.

That looks excellent. I really like the colours and the style, it's really well made. Excellent work!

Although I can appreciate it, I'm just not a fan of using 'natural' leather colours, I love using leathers that let me have some more character and provide contrast

Heck yeah we do! Thanks for the reminder/confidence boost!

Hmm this week I will have a cup of tea. Maybe two

As a British I support this statement. What tea are you having?

[-] hedge_lord@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Stinging nettle tea if I do not want caffeine, and masala chai otherwise! I've been working on my chai recipe for a while and I've come to the very simple realization that I should have been using higher fat milk. It's soooo good

What kind of tea do you like to drink? Anything in particular?

  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
