I was confused by the title because fprintd has been around for a long time. Didn't realize Cinnamon didn't support it.

Ahh so that might be the reason fprintd sucked when I tried it. Often times I had to provide my password after using the fingerprint. So instead of making it more convenient I had to use the fingerprint AND password

Nice, that's a huge deal in terms of modern features. I fucking love my fingerprint reader. I don't wanna type in my very strong password over and over every time I wander away from my laptop 🥲

i'm so sad that my fingerprint reader on my hp envy wasn't supported by fprintd :( i do miss logging in with a fingerprint but that's all i miss in windows 10/11.
