That was a real fun time before the vote. It seemed like he was either going to become one of the most powerful men in the world OR spend life in jail.

It's not fun now. Now it's scary.

I'll never forgive them for not putting him into jail after the January 6th insurrection.

4 fucking years and they barely got him for his election fraud shit. The whole thing was a charade.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

Judge Cannon should go to jail with them.

[-] spittingimage@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

'Start' talking? Did you all just forget about the previous talk of having him jailed?

[-] Merva@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

And the US justice system again and again proving itself completely incapable of delivering anything even remotely resembling justice.

Jail time?

You don't like guillotines?

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

This is where negotiations should start. Maybe we will settle for lifetime imprisonment and torture in Guantanamo Bay.

...good enough for the rosenbergs, good enough for the trumps...

Put him in a cell wherein the only thing he can listen to is various people telling him they hate his fucking guts, nonstop. That seems to really rattle his cage. Whatever makes him the angriest until the end of his miserable life.

[-] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 5 points 3 days ago

Make him listen to Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen albums on a loop til he dies

We need to stop putting all the blame on Trump and MAGA. It is REPUBLICANS who are doing this. Don’t let them ever forget when he’s gone.

As an old time Marvel fan, the man, if some shortcomings did not apply, he could be equated to the Kingpin.

The church in Munster has a couple of cages hanging off it, after a crazy cult leader took over the town and convinced everyone to act like dumbasses. They put the leaders of the cult in those cages and left them attached to the steeple to remind everyone what happened.

Something similar should do. Cages at the white house, congress, and the Supreme Court. Put trump and his cronies in each of them and let them rot. Never take them down.

While part of me likes this idea, I’m concerned about setting a precedent. We don’t want to normalize prosecuting/imprisoning politicians who had anything to do with the previous administration. Republicans (especially MAGAts) WILL abuse it, and instead of resorting to the legal system only in the case of serious crimes, they’ll casually use it against anyone they have a grudge against (which can be virtually anybody). I don’t want to read about a new batch of lengthy, expensive, ultimately unsatisfying trials every 4-8 years.

Democrats are hardly saints. I don’t trust them with this, either.

[-] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago

I am completely nonpartisan when it comes to prosecuting corrupt politicians. I cheered just as hard for Bob Menendez as I did for George Santos to get what they had coming. If you're a corrupt piece of shit, you should be in jail, not office.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago

Absolutely true. I’m just worried about prosecutions that have more to do with revenge than justice: “they put three of ours In jail, so now we have to put four of theirs in jail.”
