I see there is a Milwaukee-specific community now (!milwaukee@midwest.social), but are there Lemmy communities out there for other major cities in Wisconsin such as Madison?

I would love a Madison community, but I just moved here (to Madison), so I don't think I'm the best person to start it

Maybe try to reach out to someone at the university CS dept and see if they would be interested in hosting one? Could be a benefit for the whole community!

Over time you will likely see more specific Lemmy instances including regional servers. I don't know of any yet but I could definitely see huge regional servers like chicagoland.social or dfw.social popping up with communities for neighborhoods, suburbs, festivals, sports, jobs, etc. IMHO most subreddits over 100k subs could probably benefit from having their own Lemmy instances. For regional Lemmys in some cases I could see either universities or CVBs running them.
