And yet every single country in the world does absolutely nothing. Sorry guys, looks like it isn’t western civilization after all.

Kind of have bigger problems at home.

We're all busy fighting the fascists from our own throats.

But please, feel free to not vote, that will really show the fascists.

[-] 3abas@lemm.ee 16 points 1 day ago

The only reason you're fighting the loud Nazis now is because you insisted on voting for the nice Nazis as a solution.

This was Biden's genocide, Israel starved Gaza under Biden already and he did nothing, it was Trump who paused the genocide, in a stupid attempt to get Gazans to just play along and ethnically cleanse themselves, and now he resumed Biden's genocide.

When history books are written, you can bet your ass we Palestinians will keep reminding the whole world that this was Israel and Biden's genocide.

But please, feel free to pat yourself on the back and tell yourself you did your part, you did what you could to end the genocide by voting for the party committing it, it's everyone else's fault that the other party is also committing it. You're just a dumb Nazi.

We're fighting nazis because when we tried to vote against nazis you said 'meh, you're not the right kind of anti-nazi, so we'll let the real nazis win to show you!'

Which is why Gaza is being purged by fire right now.

Well played, you must really hate Gazan children, to let them suffer like this to prove a point.

That's me showed.

[-] Count042@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 hours ago

Gaza was getting purged by fire under Biden.

You just didn't care because of who was doing it.

No person actively engaged in Genocide is an anti-Nazi. They're just Nazis.

You never cared about Palestinian children if you supported someone that was actively engaged in murdering them.

It's not 'you showed'. It's 'you showed the world who you are'. Which is someone who is okay with genocide.

[-] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 1 points 32 minutes ago

I didn't care because I don't care about gazans, and oct 7 didn't endear them further.

I care about Americans, who are now suffering a genocide which you're fine with.

It's not 'you showed'. It's 'you showed the world who you are'. Which is someone who is okay with genocide.

Yup, an American genocide, and a Ukranian genocide. Mass graves in izium.

That's who you are.

[-] Count042@lemmy.ml 1 points 17 minutes ago* (last edited 17 minutes ago)

So you're a Nazi.

People that don't care about the ongoing genocide of 2.8 million people, most of whom were children, and don't care they're being slaughtered because of the action of less then 1% of the population are Nazis who are okay with genocide.

You don't have a problem with genocide, just the people being genocided.

You're a Nazi.

We're all busy fighting the fascists from our own throats.

If there's fighting then I'm sure as hell not seeing it.

I mean what do you define as fighting? Cause the most I've seen is protests and I don't really count just going outside for a couple of hours on the weekend to wave a sign around and chant as fighting.

[-] baines@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

sure ignore all the judges, fed workers and doctors being threatened with losing their livelihoods and jail, possibly violence

ignore the massive amounts of non violent protests

all the quiet behind the scenes work on trying to preserve everything we can

but sure get right out there and give them a reason to declare martial law

here actual violence for you

sure ignore all the judges, fed workers and doctors being threatened with losing their livelihoods and jail, possibly violence

They aren't fighting, they are barely resisting by doing their job.

ignore the massive amounts of non violent protests

Massive? You're impressed with the size of protests in the face of what's happening?

all the quiet behind the scenes work on trying to preserve everything we can

There's a difference between dismissing all efforts by all individuals and stating a starling fact: we are collectively not doing enough.

but sure get right out there and give them a reason to declare martial law

Wait wait wait this took me back a bit, I wasn't ready to respond to this point. You're either completely brainwashed by neo-liberals or you just have not thought your contradicting views through fully.

What's the point of protest? Have you ever marched in an organized peaceful protest in designated areas and paths where police literally setup caution tape and mobile barriers to direct your protest from point a to point b?

How did that feel? Did you feel like you accomplished much? Did the few onlookers that actually walked by your "protest" path seen engaged and informed?

Protests that don't bother anyone are just state sponsored venting sessions. If the Nazis are in power, and they aren't imposing marshall law because of your protests, you're not protesting.

When the Biden regime saw actual massive protests of his genocide, they called students terrorists and started making laws to squash it. Just a few days a go a bill was passed to make it illegal to criticize Israel on Campus by conflating anti genocide protests with antisemitism.

There's your fascism, 320-91 bipartisan fascism! Protest, massively and un"peacefully" before you can't.

[-] WarlordSdocy@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

I think doing all of those things is good but none of them really constitutes the people actually fighting back.

The first point focuses more on people in government using the amount of power they can to oppose this stuff which is good but isn't really the people fighting back against this.

The massive amounts of protests aren't going to do anything by themselves as Trump can continue to ignore them and keep blazing ahead as he's already doing so. Especially considering the major force behind this, 50501, is having some pretty major internal problems right now the last time I looked that will probably splinter and hamper their ability to keep doing events.

In terms of violence I do generally support non-violent action, I just think it needs to be directed in ways that actually accomplish something rather then just allowing people to feel like they did something by going out to a protest for a couple hours. We need people to join organizations and actually start organizing and building community with people. That way people can begin to work towards creating whatever protections they can at the local level whether that be through local legislation or through organizing groups to protect people in the community directly from attacks. Protests can work towards this but we seriously need to hammer it into people that just showing up to a protest isn't enough by itself and we need more protests that aren't just nebulously targeted at Trump but have specific goals and demands.

[-] baines@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 day ago

lol alright hand wave all that

[-] blakenong@lemmings.world 7 points 2 days ago

Don’t worry, I voted. You probably think I’m someone I’m not.

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 days ago

What can be done about this? Obviously Trump won’t intervene, so what other levers of action can people push against?

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 15 points 1 day ago

You can spread the word. Conveniently, the site has a lot of information about things average people can do to oppose Israel's genocide and horrific acts in general beyond just boycotting, divestment and sanctions.

[-] Samskara@sh.itjust.works 3 points 14 hours ago

One issue with BDS is they also support the boycott of Israeli-Palestinian grassroots peace initiatives. BDS demands boycott of all Israelis and Israel related people. That means dialogue, building bridges, personal connections, and so on is being opposed. Boycotting everything Israel also harms Palestinians. BDS also means boycotting Israeli artists, that are critical of the government as well.

Norman Finkelstein also doesn’t support BDS. Even though he‘s very critical of Israel‘s policies.

So consider this before you blindly support BDS. If you hate Israel and want to see it destroyed, sure go ahead. If you want peaceful coexistence, BDS is not the way.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 5 points 12 hours ago

Even if you don't like their stance on some things, they provide very good information and actionable anti-Apartheid steps the average person can take. If you think one of their stances is counterproductive then just... don't follow it. I'm certainly for cooperating with unequivocally anti-Apartheid Israelis, but for purely tactical reasons it makes sense for BDS to oppose it. As the leading anti-Zionist international organization they kind of do set the tone for anti-Zionist action, and it's a lot easier to make a program more moderate than more radical.

Boycotting everything Israel also harms Palestinians.

Lemme reword that for you: "Boycotting South Africa also harms black Africans". Do you see the problem now? Israel must not be allowed to use Palestinians' economic security as a hostage against the international anti-Zionist movement; that'd basically mean giving up.

So consider this before you blindly support BDS. If you hate Israel and want to see it destroyed, sure go ahead. If you want peaceful coexistence, BDS is not the way.

As I said above even if you think they're too radical or whatever at this stage of the anti-Zionist struggle anti-Zionist action will take the same form no matter where you ultimately want to end up. That aside, though, why the heck would I not want Israel gone? The prospect of peaceful coexistence with Israel is about as attractive as peaceful coexistence with Nazi Germany; dismantle that shit and build a real democracy in its place.

[-] Count042@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 hours ago

You will never get engagement when asking people defending Israel about South Africa or Rhodesia.

They will either ignore the question, or act confused why you'd being up 'countries that don't exist anymore' in bad faith.
