Don't know how many staff she has but $400 for a "self-defense" class is shit-tier level training

[-] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 10 points 19 hours ago

Clearly she paid for 1 hours on a Saturday morning with 1 trainer for 20 unpaid staffers who were in the impression that was a mandatory meeting

[-] modifier@lemmy.ca 6 points 17 hours ago

Clearly she paid for one session for 4 people since she has 4 employees and that is what she said in her own words.

I’m not pushing back on any judgment of the lady, but you get the “clearly” from reading the article, not letting your imagination work off the title.

I paid over $400 to teach my staff self defense.

That doesn’t seem like nearly enough money to teach multiple people how to effectively defend themselves.

[-] zib@lemmy.world 24 points 22 hours ago

Soon after the harassment began, I paid $436 for a two-hour self-defense session. The instructor is scheduled to come to my office to teach my staff self-defense tactics in the event that the situation becomes violent, or if people physically show up here at my office or at my home. The session will focus on a number of methods including verbal de-escalation, active shooter and intruder response training, and escape from common holds.

She hired a person to do a one-time seminar for her staff. Proper self-defense takes years of dedication and practice. This seems like it was more for optics.

Hung Gar instructor given two hours to train newbies:

"This is horse stance. We will do this for the next two hours."

“I paid Mitch $400 to tell my staff to be aware of their surroundings and hand out his business cards for one on one training.”

probably learn how to kick in the balls.

This is really good advertising though, it shows exactly what type of company and owner this is. One look and I know who to never do business with! Effective!

I stopped buying Blaze Pizza because they did a cybertruck ad.

[-] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 16 points 1 day ago

thanks for the alert i gotta boycott them

[-] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Which is a shame. They had the best gluten free pizza. My wife and I loved them while my wife had to be gluten free for health reasons.

fr. the vegan chorizo and the balsamic glaze are tasty. but better another pizza than to support nazis. better to be a pig than a fascist

The purchase was made before people set Cybertrucks on fire or took strong political stances. The edges of the vehicle are flat, and it allows for enough description and visual components to increase our branding.

The first CyberTruck delivery to Washington state was March 25, 2024. Assuming they put a deposit down in 2019 when it first opened up they had 5 years to see the way things were going.

I’m also curious what the math is on cost to space ratio of a CyberTruck versus something like an eSprinter van if they wanted a vehicle with space for “ enough description and visual components to increase [their] branding”.

[-] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

I live in WA state and saw multiple cyber trucks back in December iirc.

[-] LilB0kChoy@lemm.ee 9 points 22 hours ago

If you mean December as in 5-ish months ago then that would make sense as that would be about 9 months after March 2024.

[-] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

Whoops! I read March 2025, my bad

Buys $100,000 truck. Complains about spending $400.

100k+ advertisement billboard on her truck.

[-] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago

I don’t feel bad for this scammer. Hope her Swasticar gets stuck somewhere.

Writing an op ed is a great way to get more harassment. I eagerly await her getting tons more calls and emails.

“Corncob”? Is that an insult of some kind? I’ve never heard it used unless referring to an actual cob of corn.

[-] belastend@slrpnk.net 7 points 21 hours ago

Stems from an old dril tweet:

"I wasn't owned, I wasn't owned", I scream, as I shrivel into a corncob.

A corncob is someone, who cannot accept that they've lost.

[-] Letstakealook@lemm.ee 16 points 1 day ago

Sounds like an old timey insult for a "rural" person.

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah, that’s what I guessed, too

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

There’s a local sneaker shop with a Cybertruck. I’m not a sneaker head so it didn’t alter my buying habits

[-] Geodad@lemm.ee 9 points 1 day ago

That's just the type of person I expect to be driving those.
