I was in the mood for zombies the other day and couldn't decide on a movie so ended up starting to binge my way through the first 2 seasons on walking dead. I'm more of a movie over tv show guy so I'll admit I actually haven't seen many of the other zombie shows. Wondering if anyone has any others to recommend to throw on the list to check out.

I've only seen up to season 4 of walking dead. Lost interest during season 4. Never seen any of the spin offs.

The Last of Us.

I recently forced myself to watch every walking dead and all spinoffs. It never got as good as the first seasons.

Kingdom. It's a Korean zombie show set hundreds of years in the past. A zombie threat becomes a lot more serious when you don't have guns, planes, or instant communication.

Here are a few. None are perfect, but I enjoyed them to varying degrees

Black Summer, iZombie, Daybreak, Santa Clarita Diet, Reality Z, Freakish, In the Flesh, Zomboat!, Z Nation

Z nation! God I love that show. Captures the b movie vibes so perfectly

It knows what it is and doesn't pretend its anything else.

Z nation is one I've actually seen years ago but actually forgot about. I think I'll try to give that a revist. Freakish also looks interesting I'm gonna try to check that out too. Thanks

I love Santa Clarita Diet! So underrated. Netflix did it so dirty unfortunately.

I’m in the same boat as far as watching more films than shows generally, but one I really enjoyed was Black Summer. There are only two seasons but at least it didn’t drag on like TWD. I vaguely remember somewhat of a shark-jumping and/or cliche moment happening at some point, but overall it’s definitely worth watching if you’re into gritty zombie apocalypse stuff.

I've never heard of that one, but I looked it up and it looks like it like could be pretty cool. I think I'm gonna check that out. Thanks for the recommendation.

It's probably the best recommendation you'll get, unless you're into the comedy zombie shows. I'd honestly put it above the early seasons of The Walking Dead

Dead Set. Written by Charlie Brooker of Black Mirror fame about a bunch of contestants in the Big Brother tv show when the zombie apocalypse kicks off outside. 5 episode mini-series.

I didn't realize Charlie Brooker wrote that. That's a good one.

Fear the Walking Dead is reasonably good from season 1 to 3. Season 3 is particularly strong, probably one of my favorite single seasons of a post apocalypse show.

I also second the votes for Black Summer.

Eh, still the walking dead, but I don't watch past season six

The first few seasons were some really awesome zombie stuff. But it fell off pretty hard after that. I might end up watching season 3 again too.

I feel you. I kinda end up with everything after the prison going downhill for me, in terms of both overall quality and zombie action.

There's a few episodes with zombie centric plots after that, and plenty of good scenes, but as a zombie show it gets weak during the prison season.

That being said, there's one of the seasons in or around Alexandria where there's an episode with a massive hoard being managed, and it all goes wrong, and it is a great episode, I just can't remember exactly when it was to recommend it by season/episode.
