Yeah I thought they were the size of a chicken.

They are the size of a large chicken from what I can find.
Different chicken breeds have WILDLY dissimilar sizes. Like 2lbs to 12lbs and some chicken breeds can get to 3ft tall.
Here is a site I found that seems to exclusively talk about chickens with a list of different large chicken breeds.

Why is the word bird required? A kiwi is a kiwi, it's literally the name of the animal. You don't say pigeon bird?
