Wasn't her title Prince Elizabeth because at the time the word Queen exclusively referred to the king's wife?
I can't really find any references to this, but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else knows about it. I see a few usages of "Prince Elizabeth", but it's ambiguous if it's just a typo or not.
It's kind stupid to assume a playwright wouldn't do any research at all for a play.
Or that they wouldn't have access to people with specific knowledge as an educated person in the 16th century and well-known artist.
