Manufacturing use-cases to justify spyware.

Yet again a "feature" nobody asked for. It will not even properly do what it says.

No, but it will do something they need that we won’t want or like.

I guess for a person who screenshots places they want to go.

90% of my screenshot roll are of horror movies I want to watch. Google will be planning vacations to abandoned houses and Antarctic research stations. Yaaay.

Think this is useless? It gets worse!

The new screenshot feature for Google Maps doesn’t appear to detect locations based on image recognition, instead requiring visible text

They must've told the new intern "Put AI in Google Maps. You have 3 days."
I almost feel bad for the poor sap.

Google Maps can, and we're just hearing this live now, "get fucked".

Not that I want this.... But why is it rolling out to ios before android?

[-] fmtx 5 points 4 months ago

All my screenshots are memes. Where is Google going to send me on vacation?

Woohooo something 90% of people will NEVER use, it will be on by default so they can scan all your pics (in case they didn't already)
