I'm not even looking for windscreen washer fluid and I'll buy European SUPERPISS

[-] perfectly_boiled_pizza@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Same. I don't even have a car but I NEED some SUPERPISS immediately.

[-] HorreC@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Even as someone out side of the EU I think I might start importing this.

[-] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

You can also just make your own washer fluid. Look up a recipe online.

Itโ€™s something like combining water, a bit of rubbing alcohol, and a little dish soap. Super cheap and eco friendly.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 7 points 1 month ago

That sounds like it would freeze, no?

[-] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Oh good point. I live in temperate climate.

But perhaps the rubbing alcohol keeps it from freezing.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Don't think that would be enough in cold climate since it's just a bit mixed in with other liquids. I think they use special antifreeze stuff in those liquids that make the whole thing resistant (like the one in this image is rated to -54ยฐ).

Rather than me making uneducated guesses, I found an interesting article about just this topic: https://blending.globecore.com/composition-antifreeze-washing-liquid-windshields

๐Ÿงช Basic Windshield Wiper Fluid Recipe (All-Season) Ingredients: 1 gallon distilled water

1 tablespoon dish soap (mild, non-foaming like Dawn)

1/2 cup rubbing alcohol (isopropyl, 70% or higher โ€” helps prevent freezing)

Instructions: Pour the distilled water into a clean gallon container.

Add the dish soap and rubbing alcohol.

Mix gently to combine โ€” avoid creating too many suds.

Use a funnel to pour the mixture into your vehicle's windshield washer fluid reservoir.

โ„๏ธ Winter/Freezing Weather Version: If you live in a cold area, increase the amount of rubbing alcohol:

Use 1 cup of isopropyl alcohol (or more, depending on how cold it gets โ€” up to 99% alcohol works best below freezing).

You can also substitute methanol (Heet gas line antifreeze in the red bottle) for better freeze protection โ€” just handle with care and avoid breathing the fumes.**

So while you're at the garage, you can pick up some Pussy and Superpiss.

[-] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

Fuck you and your ads on Lemmy but:

If I'm looking for windshield fluid I'll buy Superpiss (from Finland)

[-] jherazob@beehaw.org 6 points 1 month ago

That's an unfortunate name...

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 15 points 1 month ago

No, it's a great name. I want Superpiss merch.

[-] BobbyNevada@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 month ago

Right?! Who do I have to fuck to get a SUPERPISS hat over here?

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 5 points 1 month ago

Who do I have to blow to get a bumper sticker saying: "Powder by Superpiss"?

[-] BobbyNevada@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 month ago

Maybe we getting too aggressive too soon? Maybe we should start with hugs, fistbumps, and positive affirmations? SUPERPISS would want us to be better.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 1 points 1 month ago

In Superpiss We Trust

[-] passenger@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago

No, it comes from the fact that the washing device is commonly called pissapoika (piss boy)

Honestly I would buy it for the name alone lmao

[-] gurnu@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Fun fact: the windshield washer (not the liquid) is called 'pissapoika' or pee boy in Finnish

[-] Gladaed@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago

Probably contains urea to reduce the freezing point.

[-] wizzor@sopuli.xyz 13 points 1 month ago

That may be, but the finnish word for a car window washer is "pissapoika" which translates to "piss boy".

[-] baggins@beehaw.org 1 points 1 month ago

"You look like the piss boy!"

[-] antimidas@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago

Most likely not, we're already having trouble with adblue (basically just urea) freezing, especially in the northern parts. There was recently some piece of news where a repair shop in Lapland was up to their neck in repair orders for emissions control systems due to frozen adblue liquid.

Practically all washer fluid sold in Finland uses some alcohol as the deicer, typically just your normal denatured ethanol. I'd also think having urea in the washer fluid would wreak absolute havoc on some parts that get exposed to it โ€“ I'm under the impression that it's quite nasty stuff for many different materials.

[-] Cyber@feddit.uk 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah, but -54DegC?! Minus fifty four!

Does it really get that cold in Finland?

[-] Gladaed@feddit.org 6 points 1 month ago

Yes, with safety margin. You gotta be safe.

[-] FelixCress@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Is it made by the same company as JussiPussi bread?

[-] Epzillon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago
