Same with exercise. Doing 10 push-ups is easy. I'll do it every day.

[-] Vitaly@feddit.uk 9 points 1 month ago
[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 month ago

It's better to do 3,000 push-ups today and hope it happens again sometime in the next year.

[-] Vitaly@feddit.uk 11 points 1 month ago

That's why instead of walking every day I went for a 32 mile marathon on Sunday

[-] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 weeks ago

Why did you have to remind me so late?

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Oh man, I’ve got my nighttime routine down pat. I eat a couple pieces of fruit, floss, smoke a j with my husband, brush my teeth, wash my face, turn the heat off, and then put on face lotion, lip balm, foot lotion, and hand lotion before getting into bed. Every single night.

Do I ever remember to eat breakfast, wash my face, and brush my teeth in the morning? Maybe once a month.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 6 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

please start brushing your teeth in the morning dude

honestly cant believe the amount of gross fucks who dont brush their teeth downvoting me LOL

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 22 points 4 weeks ago

Oh shit, I just gotta start doing it??? I can’t believe you fixed adhd just like that.

Hi, I too forget to brush my teeth but I downvoted you because you're being patronising as fuck. Have a nice day.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 4 points 4 weeks ago

whats patronizing by saying please brush your teeth?

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

What are you trying to do when you say that, like a parent trying to make their child brush their teeth? Do you HONESTLY think anyone here isn't aware that dental hygiene is important and hasn't tried a billion ways (including begging and pleading with themselves) to get themselves to do this normal thing that normal people do with ease? Don't you think the problem MIGHT lie elsewhere, in this community about a neurodivergence? Do you need to read up on what ADHD is?

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 4 weeks ago

i dont need to read up on what ADHD is, i fucking have it

just speaking from experience, getting called out on stank ass morning breath made brushing my teeth every morning a surefire routine I almost never miss, just trying to help you from what i already went through

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

Good job, this worked for you. It doesn't work for others.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 4 weeks ago

still no excuse to be rude and patronizing to someone trying to help

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

What you said boils down to "just do it". You recognise why that's a bad thing to say, yeah?

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 1 points 4 weeks ago

no it doesnt and no i dont, youll have to be clearer than that. why is it bad to say? i think its worse going around with shit breath than to tell someone to remember to brush their teeth in the morning

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 5 points 4 weeks ago

"Just do it" is what neurotypicals say when they want to give advice. "Just exercise more", "just do yoga", "just make a list", "just take out the trash everyday", "just put it away after you use it", "just fix your sleep", "just make an effort", "just be normal". It's not advice, it's unhelpful and talking down to a child.

Honestly weird that you say you haven't encountered it.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 1 points 4 weeks ago

i never said just do it so why does this apply to me?

and i also never said i never encountered it

honestly its weird you make so many assumptions on me all because i brush my teeth in the morning

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 4 points 4 weeks ago

"Please brush your teeth in the morning" is "just do it". Honestly, even adding "the people around you can smell your bad breath" would've been an improvement of sorts.

You said you didn't know why "just do it" is a bad thing to say which implies nobody's ever said it to you.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 1 points 4 weeks ago

i figured it was obvious that people around you can smell it, why else would i tell someone to brush their teeth in the morning?

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 4 weeks ago

It is also obvious to adults that you should brush your teeth everyday, so why tell them?

You should a be careful with eating acidic fruit before cleaning teeth because the acid can slightly soften the teeth and make them vulnerable to damage through

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

Between brushing and fruit is about an hour. I swear I’ve got my nighttime routine down.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 11 points 1 month ago

Even things I do regularly im only sorta, kinda, able to keep it going. I have some supplements I take twice a day and that sometimes happens but I almost take them at least once a day. I highly encourage shooting high to get closer to a minimal level of compliance. Oh and this only really works for really easy things.

[-] jadedwench@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

I have all of my medicine bottles in a bright red makeup bag. I would be hopeless otherwise. Makeup bags are nice because they are very wide and deep. The growing pile of pill bottles fit nicely. I am talking about the more boxy shaped ones without anything inside them. Mine is around 8cm wide, 13cm high, and 20cm long. Really rough measurements.

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

I got the pill sorter things where I can prepare it every week. But since I average once a day I fille every other weekish.

[-] jadedwench@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago

I tried to make them work, but having pill bottles in one place and then the organizer separate just made it too stressful. I am not home every day, so having one little bag with it all just helps. The organizer got a little beat up in my backpack. I do have a little metal keychain pill holder that I put 2-3 days of pills in sometimes.

I also have a couple meds that are "as needed" or for emergencies. The big one is needing to keep an eye on the date and exact counts of how much Adderall is left. I just went through the unfortunate experience of not having meds for 3-4 days and I was a mess. It wasn't even my fault...

[-] Dragod@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

I have a daily pill sorter and a daily reminder on my phone. I often see the reminder and forget about it 13 seconds later, so having them already dispensed makes it easy for me to see the reminder and just go do it. It helps that if I don't take my medicine then I know I'll feel sick, so if I ever make it to the afternoon without taking my meds it sort of makes me panic so that I go do it right away. It's good I WFH, otherwise I'd never remember to take my meds before leaving for the day.

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 8 points 1 month ago

Try this.

Put your toothbrush, tooth paste, floss, and the moisturizer in one box. If you go to brush your teeth you'll also see the moisturizer.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Oh you want me to NEVER brush my teeth instead of every 1-2 days.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

No but seriously, this is an issue. I usually at least use the toilet (because obvious bodily signal) before going to bed which, due to the layout of the bathroom, means I have no choice but to look at the spot where my toothbrush is. I also do have the decency to remember to wash my hands which means even more time spent looking in that direction. I STILL manage to not see the toothbrush and forget to brush. Anything not moving and/or yelling merges with the background noise. *confused T-rex noises*

Boxes defeat me. It must be in a constantly visible clump.

[-] affenlehrer@feddit.org 8 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

It puts the lotion on the hands or it gets the hose again

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 weeks ago

Instructions unclear, slathered hose with lotion.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 4 weeks ago

It's so much more effective slathered on hoes though

[-] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

One trick is to tag it on to the end of an existing routine you do reglarly, ~~like brushing your teeth~~ like after taking your shoes off after coming back from outdoors (that's when I brush my teeth for ex.)

[-] Por_que_pine@startrek.website 5 points 4 weeks ago

6 years 😲That's some seriously good lotion!

[-] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

This reminds me of something, though it might not be an adhd thing. Sometimes I get really into some snack or food item. So next time I get groceries I make sure I get more, extra, even. I insist on it even if I don’t eat any of it for months.

[-] SurfinBird@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

This is not adhd. Wait, is this adhd?
