This one speaks to me on multiple levels.

It's a reason I dropped my scepticism of medication and went to get a diagnosis and subsequent prescription. I am glad I did - and that it worked first try. (It's not guaranteed anything would, depending on unknown factors and probably autism also influences the effectiveness)

I can confirm: At first, it really feels that way. But now, half a year later, it balanced out a little and I am only medium fast. Still - much improvement compared to before.

(Disclaimer: This is not medical advice, do not mistake for such)

edit: Artist, I believe, is Toivo Kaartinen, creator of Foxes in love

I was on meds when I was a kid and I was not the dog. I was a shaky, confused, mentally unstable, paranoid wreck. The urgency on everything was cranked up to 11 and I still had no autonomy. It was baaaaad.

Valid, too, of course.

I am speaking from the perspective of a late-diagnosed adult. With kids and teenagers it is difficult to gauge the cause of mental health problems as well as the effectiveness of treatment. You better find a doctor that knows what they're doing... Sorry yours didn't - not all of them do, unfortunately.

If you're interested in trying more meds, I suggest vyvanse if you haven't tried that. It's much smoother than the short acting ones like adderall. Doesn't give me that "wired" feeling that can lead to those issues.

Does that rhyme with Beyoncé?

It rhymes with "try pants"

I was the dog on concerta, also went badly after a while and I couldn't eat anything at all. Now after a lot of years I'm on Elvanse. While it's not as good as the concert, I am still able to eat.

For me it feels more like the dog went from a somewhat ruly Great Dane to a somewhat ruly cocker spaniel. A lot easier to handle on the walks and less attention aggressive but when it is it doesn't take all of my energy to get it home.

Can we please post the source when we post other people's stuff

Oh, you're right. This one only has a signature. I don't know for sure, but I'll edit it in.

I wish I could take meds but those are bad for my blood pressure and my blood pressure medication can not be dosed high enough to cancel that.

[-] Katrisia@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

What about non-stimulant medication? For example, guanfacine is both a high blood pressure and an ADHD medication.

[-] torpak@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

I had no idea this exists. I will ask my doctor.

I'm on my first week of vivance and loving it. My head has never been so quiet. Before, it's like my ears were always ringing and drowning out everything I tried to focus on. Now, all my different thoughts are still there, but I CHOOSE which ones I'm paying attention to. I should have been on meds 20 years ago.
