I've done only a little experimenting with bright inks, but it seems like unless the nib is quite broad the color gets lost. This now has me hunting for inexpensive stub nibbed pens :)

I use two contrasting colors to take notes. One darker color to write the main content of my notes, and another bright one to do the same as code comments. It's like looking at a second Maher of information. On top of that, I always use broad nibs that allow me to see the details of the ink .
