Israel says it is cutting off its electricity supply to Gaza. The full effects of that are not immediately clear, but the territory’s desalination plants receive power for producing drinking water.

Sunday’s announcement comes a week after Israel cut off all supplies of goods to the territory to over 2 million people. It has sought to press Hamas to accept an extension of the first phase of their ceasefire. That phase ended last weekend. Israel wants Hamas to release half of the remaining hostages in return for a promise to negotiate a lasting truce.

Hamas has pressed to start negotiations on the ceasefire’s more difficult second phase instead, which would see the release of remaining hostages from Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and a lasting peace. Hamas is believed to have 24 living hostages and the bodies of 35 others.

So after Israel kills the last Palestinian- who’s next on their list?

it’s not like they’ll face any consequences for this genocide, so why not kick off another?!

[-] Shezzagrad@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago

You haven't heard of greater Israel? They plan on expanding and expanding (even if the plan fundamentally is screwed now that people see through Israel)

[-] TomAwsm@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Plenty of other Arab countries to choose from. Stay tuned!

[-] drmoose@lemmy.world 30 points 13 hours ago

No matter which side you take in this conflict one thing is clear - the incompetence of Israel and IDF is staggering.

[-] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 47 points 12 hours ago

It's not incompetence, it's a racist state where the majority see Palestinians as sub-human.

[-] Doorbook@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago

Yes op making it like some minister are stupid and there are some good apple, while they publicly say we want to level it to the ground and drop equivalent to 6 Hiroshima bombs on the region.

Their entire history built on massacre after another.

It's intentional.

More collective punishment from the "good guys"

Yet another reminder that if a god does exist, they're the type who likes burning ants with a magnifying glass.

Epicurus said it best:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God

I'll never understand the anti-theist obsession with religion. They survey everything before them, scanning for signs of faith like a hawk searching for mice.

For me, one of the best things about atheism is I can automatically depreciate the significance of all that dumb shit.

Because it's a blight on society, and it cripples people's ability to think critically.

We are living in the results of a society founded on and formed by Christianity. It's bad.

[-] Mechaguana@programming.dev 4 points 17 hours ago

Its the "chosen by god to save your souls" fervor probably, which gives the licence to fuck everybody's lives.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

This is an extraordinarily useful reply.

Thank you for that.

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 3 points 22 hours ago

So like the god of the bible then?

[-] Tja@programming.dev 4 points 22 hours ago

No no, that's the one with sending bears to maul children for... calling a bald guy "bald".

[-] dontbelasagne@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

And the one that sends gay people and the people that shop on sundays to hell and sees both as sins as bad as each other but has no problem with slavery.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 18 points 22 hours ago

Thank god all the lefites stayed home on election day or this would have happened.

[-] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 10 hours ago

If you don't think this would've happened under Harris, I've got a great opportunity for you to make some money on crypto.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Sure, sure. Things under Harris would have been just as chaotic, incompetent, and bad for the Palestinians and Ukranians.

Ya got me.

[-] distantsounds@lemmy.world 17 points 20 hours ago

It’s almost as nothing happened between October 7th 2023 and November 5th 2024…

[-] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 11 points 22 hours ago

Their moral convictions stayed intact thank god. Well worth...checks notes...literal human lives.

[-] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 18 points 21 hours ago

What of the tens of thousands of dead and mutilated Palestinians at the hands of American bombs, jets, and funding from October '23 to January '25? If those deaths don't matter to you then why do these deaths matter to you? Or could it be that you don't really care either way and just want to use it as a political football?

[-] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 13 points 19 hours ago

Im not even American. Dont rope me in your weird-ass political posturing.

Obviously it was bad before but now its even worse and its worse for the rest of the world too.

Dont lecture me.

[-] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 16 points 18 hours ago

You roped yourself into "political posturing" with your previous comment doing exactly that.

I don't know how genocide becomes "even worse." Care to explain that or is it that "its worse for the rest of the world too" and now that you're personally affected it, it's suddenly an issue.

[-] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

Whatever helps you sleep at night, I guess.

[-] nooneescapesthelaw@mander.xyz 1 points 11 hours ago

If you're not American then you should learn to mind your own business

If you're replying to a comment with weak ass arguments you have to expect a slap back or just stfu.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.ml 3 points 22 hours ago

The election was stolen. This was going to happen regardless.

[-] Glytch@lemmy.world 18 points 19 hours ago

You're half right

This was going to happen regardless (Harris is a supporter of Israel's actions), but the election was not stolen.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.ml 2 points 16 hours ago

The evidence is out there. You don't have to believe it, but it 100% was stolen.

[-] Glytch@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Blueanon confirmed.

[-] spongebue@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

Give some semblance of proof or you're no better than the election deniers from 4 years ago. Hell, without even a theory you're even worse.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.ml 2 points 12 hours ago

I'm not here to convince anyone, just here to comment. You're free to do your own research. There's tons of evidence and its going to be even more obvious come midterms.

Also, why do you think they were so vocal about pushing that narrative last go around? Because they knew with what they were planning, people wouldn't want to speak up for fear of precisely what you're doing. Fuck that noise.

[-] spongebue@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

You're free to do your own research

And now you're taking a page from the anti-vax movement. No. I don't prove your points, you do that yourself. Should be pretty easy if it's so clearly happening.

[-] MiniMoose4Free@lemm.ee 1 points 1 hour ago

Obsession by Calvin Kline

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

I'm not trying to prove a point. I commented on a post and now you're harassing me. Step off.

[-] spongebue@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago
[-] Tja@programming.dev 11 points 22 hours ago

Dammit Biden, how can you let this happen!?

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 13 hours ago

What are you trying to accomplish?

[-] ceiphas@lemmy.world 10 points 11 hours ago

This is so obvious sarcasm...
