Feels like how reddit was when I first used it 12 years ago. Bye bye reddit.

I suspect this will drive a lot of people over here.

doubtful, people are still to addicted to reddit mainly the news and politics subs. people would have to get permabanned sitewide for them to come here or at least make even having thier only acct left walking on eggshells.. like myself. at one point i do engage in those subs, but i get too many misconstrued responses/rebuttal and reporting, and some bans. i became tired of seeing all those trump posts. i started filtering out certain subs(using r/all) you can block it on yuor feed. one time i accidentally called caitlyn jenner a Him, and people got mad and downvoted and reported me.

Maybe if they actually had good moderators to prevent that content getting upvoted in the first place...

Finally made the permanent switch over to Lemmy. I left a link in the Reddit Safety post so anyone else could convert easily.

It’s an absurd overreach to say the least; good riddance to the corpo-bot platform.

Conform, citizen.

At this point being banned might be a good thing to drive home the point that also my favorite of the old corporate internet platforms should be avoided. I'm doing quite okay on staying away from Meta and have long deleted my Twitter account. I can't get myself do drop Reddit somehow. Seems like they're only helping me get off my addiction

I’ll have to stop looking at Reddit for real now.

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

I was checking it periodically to see if I was missing out on anything, but the entire front page is meticulously curated propaganda & ads now. The manipulation is especially obvious because they rarely even update it now. You’ll see the same shit stuck on popular for days.

But I’m not complaining. It canceled out any FOMO I might’ve had.

I don’t expect this ban hammer will help in their next earnings call.

80-90% is about trump in one way or another, its pure ragebaiting. not really different from what youtube and facebook is doing. youtube slightly more tolerable, but they brute-forced right wing shorts into your feed(yes and i dont log in). Something people dont forgot on reddit when they are complaining about youtube/or a channel many people dont log into an acct.

Reminds me of back in 2013 when Reddit admins accidentally revealed that Eglin Air Force Base, a location often cited as the source of government social-media propaganda/astroturfing programs, was the most Reddit addicted city in the world.

My link for this was deleted. Huh. I didn't see this earier.

Anyways I think this is a dangerous chilling effect and reddit has a terrible track record for not using this as intended, so I can only expect Reddit Admins to use this beyond warning, I expect bans and this used in warrants/NSLs quickly.

Stop using reddit, stop going to reddit. And bring everyone you can to Lemmy. I want to be able to cut out my city subreddits like /r/Denver like a clean shit.

my area and city sub has been infested with conservatives, and tankies. and its a blue area too. they are also goody two shoes type of people, which is annoying.

can someone explain to me the difference between corporate and government censorship, when corporations and the government are definitely fucking?
