long line of vehicles, including a semi-truck, stopped on Highway 1

Yeah let's drive a rig into the disaster zone. I'm sure that'll be easy to turn around and not block people in if shit gets worse...

They should pull that fucktard's commercial driver's license. Probably a bunch of the same crowd that still gathers by the side of the highway every weekend with angry signs

There's so much twisted rhetoric on socials about how all the fires are due to arson, space lasers, "liberal" agenda to raise the carbon tax or create "15 minute cities" (?) by burning existing communities to the ground intentionally. I have two friends in Kelowna, one was on evac order for almost a full week. I was trying to track local news and on some platforms it was impossible for the conspiracy nuts clogging up the timeline.

Good for firefighters for doing whatever they need to stay safe on the job. Sadly, them pulling some support will also fuel the problematic bullshit. Because of course pulling resources is proof that everything is going according to plan or whatever the fuck.

A group called the Convoy of Truth and Freedom appears to have been involved in the delivery attempt, and posted a letter online questioning the need for such a large police presence on the highway, and to restrict access to the North Shuswap at all given that the "threat of the fires is greatly reduced."

The large police presence to prevent morons like these guys from getting hurt or worse, hurting others. Idiots, all of them

"A group called the Convoy of Truth and Freedom" Whenever there is stupidity and noise you will find members of Squinty McProudBoy's "base".

Their arguments seems to be that the gear was just sitting there not being used when it could have been being used to protect their property so they were within their rights to take it.

Can we give them stickers to put on their trucks, ATVs, and boats so that everyone else knows that if they see them sitting somewhere not being used it's ok to take them if you could be using them?
