I'm doing my part. Sprobably I should also move to another server to reduce the load on matrix.org. It's a pity that a protocol like this has to beg while people flock to Telegram, a centralised and insecure service.

Also, the EU should be investing heavily in matrix as an alternative to all the US spyware they keep trying to lock themselves into. But I guess all that talk about digital sovereignty is just that: talk.

Telegram isn't a chat app. It's an unlimited free file upload, storage, and sharing service that ignores any DMCA or takedown requests. It masquerades as a chat app, but that's why people flock to it despite the fact that it's not truly private.

And then of course, if people are already there, why not chat on Telegram?

I'm not personally trying to argue for telegram's use. I'm just pointing out why people end up using it. When convincing people to use Matrix, I find that calling them flies isn't really helpful for my arguments.

I'm pointing out that appealing to popularity is a fallacy. Also, humans can eat at Joe's too. Being a fly is not a prerequisite.
