I like Fox but I feel like he's not a good fit for the Spurs right now. He's in the win-now stage of his career and it doesn't align with the current Spurs timeline. Sure, Wemby kinda accelerates that, but the rest of the team needs to catch up first. It might also hinder Castle's development. Playstyle-wise, I think it can work, although Fox isn't that good of a shooter. What do you guys think?

Yeah that's a toughie, Wemby can fit with anyone though. The point will be to surround him with a wealth of quality wings however you can get them. Shooting is a premium, and if Fox isn't a substantial upgrade over Castle or Vassell then don't bother imo.

Castle isn't a PG IMO. Best to leave him as SG. Haven't watched enough Vassell to say what he is. Fox can break down defenses but he'll need a team full of shooters like Boston. He'd be best fit there offense wise because that's what Celtics built with Kyrie and then with IT. Celtics still don't got a PG who breaks down defenses. But can't see them part with Holiday.

This is obviously the trick though, the entire league is trying to do the same thing. Sometimes you have to work with what you can get. If the addition of Fox gets the team more wins, that makes SAS a more appealing destination for other players to want to come.

I think he's a good enough fit and the Spurs want to do something to push things forward, to keep Wemby happy. Just having another player out there with real gravity will transform Wemby's opportunities and get him some experience operating with an elite PG. I'd expect a decent increase in their win rate with Fox.

They don't want to pay too much for him but with Fox saying that he is focused on joining SAS they should get a good deal for him.

Spurs are still at least 3 or 4 seasons away from contention, Fox fits into that timeline fine; they can move off him or extend him depending on how he works out. In the meantime he makes the team considerably better and gets Wemby some more Ws to keep him positive.

No way the Spurs get him, I totally agree. I think the only teams who would benefit would be Lakers and Bucks but I don't know what they could offer

I think everything you says is kind of true but it all comes down to price. Like if the kings want five first round pick and some churros then no deal. Spurs have a once in a generation player in Wemby, you didn't want to get stuck in a LeBron/Cleveland part 1 type situation.

I don't know why the Spurs would do this.
