Reddit took action faster about Lemmy than they did responding to the epidemic of CSAM subs.
That sounds right for the company whose CEO was appointed moderator of r/jailbait. This was before you had to accept an invitation to be moderator, but fuck Spez regardless.
How can you look more alien than Zuckerberg?
He was the inspiration for reddit's logo
No, the logo is cute
I left reddit because they kept resisting the removal of subs that directly used the platform to sell CSAM under the guise of a specific niche of porn which normally is legal. Direct contact with reddit to explain why it was CSAM went nowhere.
Welcome here!
Reddit currently has an active and massive beastiality sub. They don’t allow real images, but they have comment threads with discussion and advice. Just as with r/jailbait, people post fishing for the real stuff.
omg the top comment just got deleted with over 500 upvotes
I think it was when it was edited to include specific links to Lemmy instances, instead of the join-lemmy.org website
I still see the comment on Spaduf's profile, but it shows as deleted in the post
I think maybe the link to lemmy.world is what triggered their filter? because that was edited in
Reddit is scared. Good job getting the screenshot.
Gotta be. It was right after I made the edit.
actually I think it was mander.xyz for some reason? and it doesn't seem to happen in r/fediverse
no wait, something else is also doing it, midwest.social is also doing it, lemmy.world is clear, infosec.pub is clear, ttrpg.network is not allowed
no idea how Reddit or r/technology chose which instances to ban lol
Knowing reddit moderators, they probably just encountered someone from those instances that disagreed with them that one time.
Wild. Do we know if there's anything else on the list.
Oh crap
It made me make an account here. I also convinced the group chat to move to signal last night.
Hey, can you go to /r/Cleveland, and convince them all to move to /c/Cleveland?
And /r/ClevelandGuardians to move to !clevelandguardians@fanaticus.social?
Based
Welcome, pal!
Let's fucking go, this is great to see! Remember to be nice to the new users if you see them around.
Ah, a worthy reason to dust off the ol account
Yep! I'm on there right now directing people to Lemmy
Hey, can you go to /r/Cleveland, and convince them all to move to /c/Cleveland?
And /r/ClevelandGuardians to move to !clevelandguardians@fanaticus.social?
Just threw in a link in both subs for anybody interested in getting off Reddit:)
HAZZAH! Maybe soon we can talk baseball in the guardians community (and how Jose Rameriez is our baseball lord!), and talk about Tim Misney's eyebrows in the Cleveland community.
You KNOW what I do! eyebrows
And to anyone reading this NOT from Cleveland, and have no idea what I'm talking about....
eyebrows intensify
I bet the fediverse wouldn't censor a post about reddit because the fediverse isn't a bitch.
People here censor all kinds of shit they don't like lmao
Mods!! This one, right here. Thanks
Would if I could but I deleted my account and Reddit has been blocking my connection for months anyway.
They block cookies comrad.
@spaduf@slrpnk.net , could you maybe edit your comment to something like
"Lemmy has 42k monthly active users
- https://discuss.online/ if you want a server located in the USA (content is still accessible from any server, the most difference latency)
- https://sopuli.xyz/ if you want a server located in the EU
- https://vger.app/ if you want an app
Feel free if you have any questions"
join-lemmy isn't the best for user onboarding: https://lemmy.world/post/24220536?scrollToComments=true
also what's the best alternative for Mastodon? a lot of people there already tried Mastodon and didn't like it due to UX/UI issues
I would be good to list Mastodon as well as an alternative, and also listing Mbin might be good too? but then maybe you're putting too many choices lol
Misskey's probably the most polished feeling, though under the hood it's apparently a total mess.
Honestly I think the answer is BlueSky. For all the problems that people have with it, it's going to be much more successful in getting people off the Nazi platforms. What's more X->BlueSky->Mastodon seems easier than X->Mastodon for most people.
Agreed
Hell yeah, Voyager. 🤘
Hey, question about Voyager, I'm using it, and if I'm on my main feed and hit the back button, it opens a list of subs, and there seems to be nothing I can do to get back to the feed without refreshing it. It's veru frustrating because I keep losing track of the post I was just about to tap on. Do you know anything about this?
If I’m understanding you correctly, you are talking about how the Home feed, All feed, etc does not save your scroll position when you leave them. When you go to the top level of the app.
I think this is because the app always refreshes the current state/order of the feed when you return to it. I looked around the settings and I don’t see an option for this.
This sounds like a feature request. It seems like a grace period would do the trick.
I'd make an issue on GitHub or maybe a post on https://lemmy.world/c/voyagerapp about it.
One thought tho, have you tried swipe gestures to go back and forth instead of your back button? It's difficult to accidentally go back twice when swiping. In case you've never done it, try swiping from outside the screen in.
I know it's not for everyone. And apologies if I'm over explaining swiping.
I would help, but I honestly don't have the password anymore. I don't think I signed up with an email, but if I did it was a dummy one. I wish I could help.
Edit: Also, I didn't know about this bridge for Mastodon:
if you want your Mastodon posts to also show on Bluesky then use this bridge https://fed.brid.gy/ you only need to follow the account @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy (~~note: is this a typo?~~ It is not a typo. It will follow you back and make sure to accept the follow) and it will automatically bridge you
the bridge is pretty nice, I would recommend everyone on compatible platforms to use it (Bluesky, and probably any AP microblogging platform, but I've only tried it with Mastodon)
