I love markdown, but it's such a mess. There are too many competing specs out there. @ernest, have you worked with the Lemmy folks on this before? This is probably a lot lower priority than stability/performance/efficiency stuff you've got roadmapped, but it might be nice to try to build some consensus on a markdown spec amongst the community.

EDIT: actually, I should check the git repo and see if anyone has filed an issue. You're already way too busy and I've pinged you several times when I should have taken the initiative and filed issues myself. Sorry, Ernest!

Yikes, spoilers should definitely be supported, pop culture communities will want that.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out tables earlier!

After posting this, it seems like using newline (\ or two spaces) is a bit off. When placed after tables and codeblocks it displays the backslash. And the two spaces method doesn't actually do anything. A workaround is that you can put   and it will insert a space and newline.

And half of that doesn't work via jerboa lol

TBF, Jerboa's not even in alpha yet. You can't even click links in it without crashing. But while I was using Lemmy I did find Jerboa user-friendly and have high hopes from it.

I've now made the swap to Kbin today and have also found the UI pretty simple to navigate (though sadly I'm not aware of any apps for it). As soon as we get some smart, tech-savvy people co-creating on apps we will be in great shape. (RIP RiF)
