Mine is the Bloom from Torment: Tides of Numenera. I love the fleshy bits. I love the everyday gruesome horror becoming an everyday thing for the people who live there. I love the literally organic surroundings. It's just by far my favorite location in any game ever. :)

I have 2.

  1. Majula in Dark Souls 2
  2. Blackreach in Skyrim. Just getting there is immensely satisfying and it's so beautiful.

Mine is the tournament boss level from path of exile. Can't remember the name of the boss but the whole level has this epic music and feel to it

Daresso, King of Swords, music definitely make it 100 times better, though that level is also cool by itself.

Q3DM17, "The Longest Yard". I've fought so many 1v1s there, it's one of the few fps maps that still regularly turns up in my dreams despite my haven't having Quaked for like 10 years now.

The All-Star Rest Area in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Extremely calming and oddly serene. Giving the player time to catch a breath between the breakneck All-Star fights. Stay as long as you want, and the music was very nice.

Limgrave in Elden Ring because you open to door from the intro cave and you are "holy shit".

Shrine of Seven Stars in WoW.

Outside of whiterun with some graphics mods in skyrim. It's pretty. The night sky and foliage is really nice. Not much of a gamer anymore but I habitually return to skyrim.

I cannot wait for Starfield just to get the experience of wandering around like in Skyrim... but I've seen the minimal requirements and them using procedural generation and now I'm worried for the experience. :(

I would love to try that game, I just know my PC would crap the bed lol.

[-] SillyJester@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I don't think I will even try because Steam is refusing refunds if you try to run the game in spite of the recommended settings and refund if it fails. It's just so dumb to me.

[-] MiddleWeigh@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That's a shame, especially for casual gamers, which is probably most the user base.

It really is! I had a job offer to work for their customer service ages ago. I wonder if I picked it up if I'd know why they operate like this. I mean, sure, you will keep some money you'd lose if you don't allow a player to refund a game they cannot play but said player is also likely to cease buying games (look: me). Sadly their customer service is outsourced and it shows because they never relay anything to Steam directly. But it was Steam's choice to outsource.

Giving others reasons like not liking the game before 2h refund window should work? You can also sail the sea

Fallout 2's Enclave oil rig (Poseidon?) is pretty cool. I like how the guys who built the original oil rig put spooky faces on the big pipes, really shows an appreciation to their craft.

[-] SillyJester@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

If you had the power to customize your piping you too would put a face on it! :P

Il Mheg from FF14. Honorable mention to the Coral Highlands from MHW.

I still boot up The Secret World once in a while to hang out in their besieged farmlands area.

The whole game has great creepy places.

[-] SillyJester@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I wish they'd remake the combat cometely. A great game otherwise.

The "Bubble-Blowing Baby Hunt" level in the SpongeBob movie game. The music fits, it's not too hard to run through, and Patrick's moveset is so much better than in the previous game.

The Floating Magical Kingdom of Zeal from 12,000 BC in Chrono Trigger. They could achieve almost anything, but their greed, prejudice, and arrogance doomed them to a terrible fate that nearly killed all of humanity.

Great music - https://youtu.be/BXo3DrXHY8w Amazing art, writing, and aesthetic design. - https://chrono.fandom.com/wiki/Zeal

Good question. I like Beach Bowl Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy a lot. Love the tropical/beach setting combined with the space theme. I bet it would be awesome to lay on a cozy little beach that’s inside a big orb floating through space. Doesn’t get more relaxing than that.
