Off my lawn with that clickbait shit.

lmao people think just because its satire it cant be clickbait, or that the clickbait won't work as clickbait

so, hyperbole is about exaggerating stuff to make it humorous. the title and thumbnail look exactly like any other clickbaity video hating a distro would look like, meaning it fails that completely.

of course though, the video might do that pretty well, but i won't watch it. though if someone has something to say about the video, feel free to do so.

it is about a bug in ubuntu where the distro is named after a certain bird and also includes wallpapers with the bird also having the birds name in their name, but the bird in the image is a diferent type of bird, someone filed a bug report along will all kinds of detailed data. became big. then birds are extinct and government drones charging through induction pads on hv cables, while he's wearing a tinfoil hat. that is essentially a summary. the video itself is quite okay/funny. but the clickcait can be quite annoying indeed, even more so for the people who don't see the actual video and so assume Linux to be buggy.

The title is supposed to be satire, it’s supposed to make fun of clickbait titles

“lets make fun of clickbait by writing clickbait” uh huh

"literally unusable" is a common tech meme about people blowing tiny bugs out of proportion. You see it pretty commonly in video game discussions (like "literally unplayable") when there's tiny amounts of texture clipping or text alignment is barely off.

Mission failed I guess

It absolutely doesn’t work when 98% of content creators out there use this type of graphic unironically.

It just adds on to the list of videos to avoid, so they’ve achieved that.

YouTube’s been shoving that corny thumbnail in my face all day and now I got to see it here? 😒

[-] RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

It’s satirical, I recommend it. The thumbnail is part of the joke

[-] porl@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

But his "serious" videos are just like this too, so not sure who he is supposed to be parodying; himself?

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago

so, about the title and thumbnail (i havent watched and won't watch the video):

satire doesnt work if what you do is the same as everyone else. like, if you're gonna make fun of someone by mimicking them satirically, you're supposed to be more extreme than whatever the person is doing.

this doesn't do that. it mimics the stuff it's trying to make fun of way too well, so it just looks like a normal clickbaity video about hating a linux distro.

I mean Brodie is a meme sure, but watching a video about it? Nah.
