It claims to have a Dimensity 9000 SoC and if you include 12GB of RAM this seems pretty powerful for a very inexpensive price. I can't find any reviews on it though.

Any thoughts?

Edit: Not sure why the Aliexpress link doesn't work but here's the screenshot and specs

I personally wouldn't buy a technological device from AliExpress, especially if there is no reviews including any photos.

Without actual photoes yeah, but you can buy a lot of awesome things from there.

What would you use it for? There's no way I'd put any of my login credentials on there, or any thing that has any access to payments. Nothing that has access to my personal data or communications, so.... seems like a non-starter for me.

I might get something that connects to my WiFi, but only to the guest network, or a separate network.

Basically assume that it has some irremovable malware in the firmware.

Yeah but I only buy from AliExpress if I am ok with losing the money i paid for in case it's a scam so I've only bought some cheap USBs from there.

Edit: typo

You can buy devices from ali but not anything especially generic devices with insane specs. I got flagship phones from there $200 or $100 less than other places. B

I know people who have and they're pretty satisfied with their purchases (mostly for audio stuff, though). But I agree i won't buy something there without reviews.

404 on the link, but it's quite possible the specs are just made up, that's pretty common on phones/tablets from weird brands. Software support will also be a huge issue since updates are really unlikely, and it will probably be buggy.

If you want a decent tablet that isn't too expensive, the Samsung Galaxy Tab series is solid.

No reviews, it's most likely a scam

I've seen this game before. You'll get the tablet, but the specs are all faked in some way or another. Very likely you'll end up with a 1280x800 screen with a Dimensity 900 SoC instead. Yes, the hardware will report 2560x1600 but your eyes will tell you it's definitely 1280x800.

This is exactly what I'm suspecting of happening

Aliexpress link is broken?

[-] MaxHardwood@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I accidentally included the #link part. Should be working...

I just get "Sorry, the page you requested can not be found:(".

Check out Techtablets reviews on YouTube. He does some good reviews on some China brands. Teclast and Dogee seem reputable. Other than the usual Xiaomi, etc.
