It's open to advertisers.

[-] HStone32@lemmy.world 99 points 1 month ago

I swear. If they start adding 'open' and 'free' to their buzzword salad...

[-] NounsAndWords@lemmy.world 59 points 1 month ago

You mean the guys who already own like 49% of "Open"AI?

[-] HStone32@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

The next head of state for the USA famously is allergic to the truth, why would we hold American companies to a higher standard?

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 26 points 1 month ago

We’re living in bizarro world. Anything’s possible.

I truly just don’t understand this timeline anymore

[-] Tyfud@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago
[-] jmiller@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

Harambe was just the first casualty. The root cause was the weasel in the Large Hadron Collider shortly before that event, which shifted us into the bad timeline.

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

No, we lost Bowie and Prince.

Tell me they didn't. Tell me this isn't an actual slide. This is just too funny.

[-] n3cr0@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

There you go! Make sure you got a bingo sheet on hand - for all the BS they state in their presentation.

[-] Petter1@lemm.ee 23 points 1 month ago

Maybe most open for bad actors trying to exploit their customers 🤭or most open to governments

[-] ccdfa@lemm.ee 18 points 1 month ago

Where is this from? I'd be interested in hearing what they're saying here.

[-] Anafabula@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 month ago
[-] joshcodes@programming.dev 4 points 1 month ago

Thank you for sharing that, could not find a link back to it. On an unrelated note I have a stitch

[-] lychee 18 points 1 month ago

I wanna hear the bullshit that definitely came out of that guys mouth

[-] kittenzrulz123 17 points 1 month ago

Of course, they make your personal information completely open to hackers and advertisers. They also make you open your wallet to buy a Windows 11 compatible computer.

[-] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 16 points 1 month ago

That is a better oxymoron than Microsoft Works lol

[-] cupcakezealot 15 points 1 month ago

i bet they're going to use a penguin as a mascot for windows and then sue linux for copyright infringement next.

[-] tdawg@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Open to exploitation maybe

[-] SitD@lemy.lol 13 points 1 month ago

i first read "the most operating system" and thought ok that's true 😂 not sure where to but they operate

[-] Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 month ago

Just as open as "Open"AI

[-] 299792458ms@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 month ago

The same system were to bypass the forced account sign-in during installation process one has to trigger a hidden prompt/terminal? Or the one that wants your desktop files to be hosted on OneDrive?

[-] ghurab@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

there is no way this is not an attempt at subverting the term

[-] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 8 points 1 month ago

Where is the meme where this is on top, and there is an image of tux with "The most secure operating system"

[-] rkk@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

imagine that you work for them and maybe sitting in the first row. who dares to laugh at the face of the ceo? must be an uplifting moment.

[-] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Open as in not secure. Let me use this word in a more familiar context.....Oh shit! We need to go back to the house! I left the door "open"!

[-] Luffy879@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago

Well it is for sure open...ing your ass for Microsoft to fuck you

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The most open operating system

…to being bricked by kernel level security software and video game anti cheats

[-] jonjuan@programming.dev 6 points 1 month ago

The most open to viruses and malware

[-] ajcolson@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

This is one hell of a good April Fool's joke.

[-] StrongHorseWeakNeigh@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Just gonna block this community. Nothing about Linux ever actually gets posted anymore.

[-] Cheems@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Not an airport

[-] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It’s nice for all the windows users who can now copy, crack and redistribute any part of windows legally.

Of course they would challenge it but words can be binding and there is room in law for interpretations. Piracy is also already winning the war on sharing.

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

maybe they mean open to copilot/recall

Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
