allegations of sexual misconduct

Why do they always misspell rape in these articles?? 🤔

[-] BertramDitore@lemm.ee 25 points 8 months ago

Yeah this bugs the hell out of me. A 17 year old is not capable of consenting to sex with an adult. That’s how our laws work. Sex with a minor is by definition rape, so they should absolutely call it what it is: a credible rape allegation.

Most states don't have an explicit crime called rape it's generally called sexual misconduct or sexual assault.

This is great news. I'll enjoy this up until the next shoe drops, and Trump's next pick is even worse than Gaetz.

[-] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 months ago

Honest question though: Could this train be obviously headed very quickly to a cliff that the die hard, career grifters are gonna pass and only the megalomaniac/delusional/etc figures are strapped in with their special RGB gold plated maga hats?

We've already jumped off the cliff. It's not a matter of if we hit the ground. It's a matter of when we hit it.

Fair point lol

Trump should just offer to keep Merrick Garland on board as AG. Nobody has done more to assure Trump was not held accountable for 1/6 than him. He’d be perfect for providing cover for whatever crimes Donnie and Elmo are cooking up right now at Mar-a-Lago.

Gaetz? Pull out? First time for everything I guess...

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 18 points 8 months ago

Better Headline: "Gaetz drops out of AG consideration to spend more time with your kids."

[-] NeoToasty@kbin.melroy.org 12 points 8 months ago

So is Greene going to follow up on her threat?

[-] Ledivin@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

The report wasn't released, was it? So there's nothing to follow up on

Well, there is the fact that she has admitted to knowingly hiding scandals.

In other words, she is an accessory, after the fact, to crimes.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Great now he can pick someone worse

[-] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 8 months ago

Get ready for a less public AG hut just as dangerous one.

So Trump won't back off, so the candidates have to instead. Or do we think Trump told him to withdraw?
