Another good thing about traditional boozers is that the lack of food means you can have animals in, at the landlord's discretion. My local has a couple of sausage dogs drop by at the weekend, although they stay in the bar where these no carpet.
I very much like this tradition. If i'm hungry i go to a restaurant. If i go to a Pub i do expect to be able to choose from a great selection of drinks.

I'm in just no pork scratchings as I am watching my salt/saturated fat/teeth.
I love pork scratchings, but also can't even think about them, because of my weak stomach.
