I'd probably bet that the people that have filtered through to Lemmy probably already have their own data storage already sorted - you've got less "casuals" as it were. I use Google Drive myself, trying to figure out an alternative.
I think there are other factors at play. The community here is much smaller and the few people that are here are likely more dedicated and knowledgeable.
I only have about 1tb of important data (photos, important videos or documents etc). The other stuff is just movies, series or music you probably will find everywhere after 20 anyway so im storing the important stuff on a hetzner storage box (encrypted of course with cryptomator) and the rest of it on onedrive. Onedrive because i can easily stream the .mp4 files without needing to download them
Not entirely. Got my email today, and the search starts for a new home for my data. ;)
You should make a dedicated post looking for help! 🤣
Doesn't everyone? Might as well read the replies they got. :P

Who are we?
We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.
We are one. We are legion. And we're trying really hard not to forget.
