According to GFR, Chris Pratt is set to star in an adaptation of The Micronauts, a companion toy line to Hasbro’s Transformers. While his specific role is unclear at the moment, it would not be surprising if he was cast as the token human amongst otherworldly beings like Shia LaBeouf, Mark Wahlberg, Hailee Steinfeld, and Anthony Ramos before him.

Everyone smelled blood in the water with how successful Barbie did and now the race is on to do toy movies again.

Monkey Paw: Capeshit dies off but toy movies come back in full force.

same-picture

Not like we haven't been cranking out Power Rangers, Pokemon, and Transformers movies for the last twenty years already. But now we're going to do it with even cheaper and less memorable merchandise.

He-man and Care Bears are back on the menu, boys.

Care Bears

Let a million 3 hour youtube video essays bloom on why Care Bears is SJW propaganda to make you care about other people!

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Rest assured that some chuds probably made some edgy grimdark fanfic version of Care Bears that involves Prestige TV(tm) levels of gory torture scenes and sexual violence though.

They didn't even wait for Barbie. My friend was telling me the latest Transformers movie referenced GI Joe. They're already doing it.

Sorry. Marvel was too high-brow for you fucking babies. We're lowering the bar a couple of pegs.

Who tf ever heard of micronauts? Buy the old toys on ebay and save them to flip them I guess. Nevermind they're already expensive.

People who were too old for He-Man, Thundercats, and Transformers, but too young for Thundarr the Barbarian. Right on the cusp of being the right age for Blackstar (the cartoon, not the guitar amplifiers).

[-] KFCDoubleDoink@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

You must be spot on because I have seen of all of those except micronauts and blackstar. I didn't realize it was older.

[-] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

My GenXer uncles were into them.

I enjoyed the Barbie movie and I still dread the possibility of some MCU-like decade of follow-up toy movies. debord-tired

Marvel Comics started doing reprints of ROM and Micronauts recently in hardcover, must be some kind of bigger new Hasbro rights deal.. btw I always thought that after people get tired of the MCU their next move would be to make X-Men movies for like 5 years straight

Deadpool 3 is coming out next year, it will be part of the MCU and will include Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

After that it's Fantastic Four in 2025 (potentially starring CIA Jim!), then probably more X-Men. They already had CIA Jim and Patrick Stewart as Mr Fantastic and Professor X cameo in a movie last year.

So don't worry, it's coming.

[-] batsforpeace@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

ah okay, so they're slowly getting there, FF also has potential but I don't know if they can pull it off

[-] clorthocranston@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

i already saw small soldiers, how much of this do we need

Honestly, can the sun just explode already

[-] jack@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

GotG story came to a very satisfying conclusion in 3 anyways.

[-] Kaputnik@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

Yeah I was sure it was the last one based on how it wrapped everything up. But then they had a big "Starlord will return" message at the very end which felt very forced and out of place

[-] Moobythegoldensock@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

And James Gunn is out. What were they planning to do, have him randomly show up in the next Avengers, possibly by himself? What would even be the point?

Seems like a good time for him to leave the franchise.
