Hey everyone 👋

Bean for Lemmy is now available on the App Store for everyone to download!

The app is free to use with a "Pro" plan that gives you access to some premium features like push notifications and multiple accounts, as well as a bunch of customisation options with more themes and app icons available.

Thank you to everyone who tested the app over the last month. I'm really happy with what I've made in a short period of time but… This is just the beginning and I have so much more planned including mod tools, kbin supported more!

I hope you'll check it out and I look forward to hearing your feedback ❤️

When will android get a release?

[-] invisibit@infosec.pub 5 points 1 year ago

Before I buy Pro, is there a timeline as to when image posts will mark as read correctly when the image is opened from the thumbnail? (Links seem to mark as read correctly when clicking the thumbnail)

Thanks!

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I'll get that fixed for 1.0.2 so within a couple of days.

[-] invisibit@infosec.pub 2 points 1 year ago

Wonderful, thank you for the quick response! Love the block icons by the way!

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Thank you! They were fun to make 😄

Here's a bigger look at some of them

Any plans to add a safari extension like Apollo used to have and Ivory currently has? I’m all for buying in on good software, but that’s one of the requirements for me to buy in.

It looks great!

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

A share extension? That should already be there, you might just need to turn it on.

[-] fleece@pawb.social 4 points 1 year ago

If you used Apollo or Ivory you might remember they both have a Safari extension where they take links to instances and open them in the relevant app. Apollo would just open reddit links but Ivory takes a link to any Mastodon instance and opens it in the app. It would be awesome to have the same happen with lemmy instances. I think Memmy is planning on something like that

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Oh, gotcha! Yeah, Ivory has “Open in Ivory”. Not a difficult thing to add, just was t something I thought about!

I’ll add it to the list of things to do 😊

[-] TwinTusks@outpost.zeuslink.net 4 points 1 year ago

This actually looks really polished

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Thank you 😊

[-] acetuk@feddit.uk 4 points 1 year ago

How long will the lifetime discounted option be available for? I will go for that once I hit payday at the end of the week.

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It’ll be for at least a week! I really appreciate the support 😊

[-] acetuk@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago

Don’t take it off until I can afford to pay for it! 😀

Will Test Flight be ending?

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The link for new TestFlight testers is already closed and I'll be clearing the list at the end of this week. Testing for v1.1 will be opened up again as a new list soon.

can Bean work with kbin accounts? I know the two are federated, just wondering since that’s my home instance 😛

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

At the moment Kbin doesn’t have an API in the stable release. When it does I plan to add support to Bean.

In the meantime you’ll need a Lemmy account and sub to Kbin Magazines from there.

Hopefully not much longer!

Hi, it does not appear on „bean“ or „lemmy“ search terms. Can someone provide a direct link?

Please reconsider the lifetime price 🙏. I want to support your efforts but I don’t do subscriptions and $30/$50 is too high a price for an unproven system (lemmy) and developer, and an app that still has some large bugs/issues and lacks some (what I would consider “essential”) functionality. This sentiment has been said by others in other communities when discussing Bean as well, so I don’t think I’m off base.

I said this elsewhere, but at $10 I have a feeling you’d get a lot more sales due to the price being in the impulse buy range, and low enough you’ll get FOMOers that are willing to throw down $10 to see what happens.

$30 for the early bird price means you can never go lower than $30 for future sales (Black Friday or what have you). I think that is a mistake, personally, and you may disagree.

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I appreciate the feedback but I’m happy with the pricing.

As always, please feel free to write a post with a bug report or feature request and I’ll do my best to fix it or implement it 😊

Awesome! Purchased the lifetime pro license!

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much for your support 🥰

[-] EighthLayer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Where is your preferred location for raising bugs?

I have one where push notifications aren't enabling correctly.

[-] net00@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I got a lifetime sub! https://postimg.cc/SndY1G6M/f8b6b53f

It definitely wasn't cheap (considering the several open source free lemmy apps), but seeing how fast this app has evolved + your commitment shows that this is gonna be a serious app (and not a side experiment that is suddenly canned).

This is also exactly why I chose lemm.ee as my instance, I'm looking for serious and stable platforms. Commitment quickly runs out for free apps, as I've seen many times before. Anyways congrats on the appstore release!

[-] steve228uk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the support! ❤️
