My wife would probably do the same, because if she expected me to keep a real plant alive I'd surely disappoint her.

If they live in a suitable climate, the water will evaporate in no time, especially if the mom adjusted the watering times in her instructions accordingly.

A relative of mine had a cactus with a dried helichrysum flower pinned on it for 3 yrs before realizing it was not it's true flower.
