they should collectively be granted 2 senators, a house rep, and 3 electoral college votes.

650k is more residents than the entire state of vermont, or wyoming.

I wish. The hours and hours of terrain with no significant features except for cattle fences and lack of rest stops are a part of my life that I'll never get back

And thanks to poor counting methods and a complete lack of anything resembling comprehensive citizen data, the real number is MUCH higher.

Of course, many places have a huge perverse incentive not to do better.

The government should be giving them a place to live and food, and paying for it by taxing additional unused residences over 10 or something high like that. Plenty of housing and money for some, and none for others.
