i agree with this. would also block country/foreign language instances I'm unable to engage with. For now I've blocked individual communities and NSFW. The NSFW block works for me but blocking communities instead of an instance is inefficient.
I can't remember where I saw this, but it's working for me:
- open the browser extension uBlock Origin's dashboard (highly recommended if you don't have it installed in your browser yet),
- select "My filters" at the top,
- add the following to the bottom:
! 2023-06-23 https://lemmy.ca
lemmy.ca##.post-listing:has-text(@lemmynsfw.com)
lemmy.ca##.post-listing:has-text(@feddit.de)
adding more lines with any domains you don't want to see anymore.
- select "Apply changes" near the top left.
Can't you just block the instance from your profile?
No, you can only block specific communities at the profile level, not an entire instance (yet).
I had to turn off all NSFW on my account for this very reason as it was like playing whack-a-mole, I'd block one porn sub and then 2 more would flood my feed.
